  1. xG is definitely the best single metric. It tells you if your team is creating real scoring opportunities and not just shooting for the sake of it. It also helps evaluate performance beyond just the final score. The final score is just one possible outcome in a game full of probabilities. Sometimes, the result reflects the performance; other times, it doesn’t. That’s where xG (expected goals) steps in — to give context. A team might win 1–0 with one low-quality chance (xG = 0.1) while the other team had 3 big chances (xG = 2.3) but failed to convert. Every shot is a probability of scoring a goal, and there’s randomness to it. Barnes scored a wonderful third goal yesterday, but the exact same chance could repeat next week and he might hit the post instead. It helps answer the key coaching question: “Did we play well enough to win, regardless of whether we did?” Coaches and analysts love xG for exactly this reason. it separates process from outcome. It’s certainly not the only metric we should look at, as we should use it along with xGA, progressive passes, possession, shots, etc.
  2. Twice? His name has come up in every transfer window since the takeover.
  3. Has anyone seen Hall? Or is he recovering from his surgery?

    Nick Pope

As others have said here, he’s an excellent shot stopper, and that save he made in the second half was massive. Had that gone in, the game would’ve ended differently.
  5. Just realized this would be the second title he won in his career after the 20/21 La Liga.
  6. Who’s that bald guy in the crowd they keep showing.

    Joe Willock

Joelinton did well when he played as a RW (last match was an example).
  8. Why is Tonali drifting wide and leaving a hole in his position? Bournemouth have been exploiting that.
  9. Isak’s celebration is like :” are you not entertained?”
  10. We have a real chance to get a trophy this season, and the finals are decided on small details. Upgrading our RW in this window could very well make the difference in the final if we eventually make it.
  11. Spurs would play the final as if their lives would depend on it, but then Liverpool is the much better team, so I am not really sure which one is better for us.
  12. Emery looked like an embarrassed father when Duran kicked the bottle
  13. It’s probably for Wilson in case he gets a new injury while watching the game.

    Harvey Barnes

If Gordon plays wells like he did today, he adds much more to the team than just goals and assists, his influence to our game is far greater if he in form IMO.
