Yes but our revenue / sponsorship deals / tv money / potentially European qualification money / shirt sales etc

should then help to boost pot ??

Oh, absolutely. I just think they won't go full pelt till all that starts to fall into place, or you end up in the situation Everton have found themselves in.

You'd need to take wages and contract length into account too.

Yep, and you have to remember, with amortisation that means it would also be £60m+ off the accounts for each of the coming 5 years before you even sign anyone else.

Are Villa just getting linked with everyone we’ve been link to? Is it because journalists are desperate for them to be in the conversation to push on like we will next season?

They do genuinely have a lot of money backing them, and are willing to spend it. There's a belief among the Villa fans that their board have actually accelerated their plans due to our takeover (have a few mates from down that way). Makes sense, as the only real chance they have of getting ahead of us is being faster out the blocks initially. You have to imagine once we get our eggs in a row with sponsorships/commercially we will fly past them.

Been here since last week hasn’t he? Came over to see Bruno and his Mrs.

He has definitely been back in France since that trip. Was on the bench for Lyon the weekend after.

Lodi sounds like it's a goer then. I'll honestly be gutted if we don't bring Targett in though.

When they have a bunch of priorities they aren't going to sign two left backs, both of whom would expect to first choice. Dummett (& Burn who played there for Brighton) is the back up option.

not completely up to date (we don’t have Bruno etc on there) but it gives a good idea comparatively

Take away from this is Harry Kane needs a better agent!

I think we now have 2 people on more that Joe. I have seen both £120k p/w for Bruno and £150k, not sure which is accurate. And I'm sure I saw £100k p/w for Trippier somewhere. Pretty sure ASM went level with Joelinton when they re-negotiated his deal.

My post was half serious (still think he can do a job), but half tongue in cheek.

In fairness, he may end up at Villa.

I imagine he is going to end up at Inter.

Would people want him here out of interest.  Not sure I would.  31 next year and would take a huge amount of cash to happen and would restrict us developing the squad elsewhere.

I know it seems mental to turn your nose up at Neymar, but we already have one wide player who doesn't really take their pressing/defensive work seriously, add another to the 11 would put a lot of stress on the defence... That being said, it's fucking Neymar, of course I'd have him lol.

The away kit is obviously invoking the Saudis, but that 3rd kit is invoking Ukraine for me like. Probably one of those things where if you're looking for it, you'll see it, but I do see it.

Think you're stretching a bit there mind...

Totally different shade of blue, and that looks far more gold/orange than yellow.

I don't get the weird social media rivalry.

Social media? Ever since they went daft after us getting relegated there on the final day of the season I've hated them lol.

Us and Villa are in very similar positions at the moment (that last part being key). Both lower half clubs with money they're willing to spend to get into the top half/top 6. It should be in the coming years where we really start to pull away. If the PIF are really serious about this we will soon start to see some of the benefits of essentially being state owned. Commercially we should be able to pull away from them pretty quickly, and therefore have way more FFP room to play with, as well as the willingness to spend.

  11. Actually like all 3 kits. Like the just the simple black and white stripes, no fucking about with daft collars or sleeves on the home.

Obviously the green and white is going to be a touchpaper. Which is actually a shame as I think it's really nice.

Blue and gold always works. That badge is a little suspect mind. Shame as the other two looked stitched on, that one looks a little cheaper by comparison.

Really interested to see who the sponsor is. Have a feeling after all this build-up it may just be Fun88 still for one more season.

  12. I feel like he is finally starting to look like the player he was under Rafa under Howe, especially in these last couple months. Think he will be a good depth option, and considering his natural fitness he is a great option to have on the bench when trying to defend a lead late in the game.

Howe has some balls if he drops Targett.

As harsh as it would be, I feel like if it were to make way for someone of Lodi's calibre people would be ok with it.

If we do have a more conservative budget in the £80-£100m range, there is no way we're spending £50m on a left back.

In that era people on here loved Vurnon Anita. He was awful. Many preferred him to Tiote.

That seems especially odd given that I'm pretty sure Anita was the player we signed to cover/replace Cabeye when we thought he was off the first time.

Between this news today, and the Tarkowski stuff from yesterday I wonder if there has been a general shift to a higher calibre of target. Almost like we had a dummy list of targets that seemed reasonable to throw people off the scent, before we start banging in bids for Mbappe, Van Dijik, the ghost of Maradona etc

  17. 3 minutes ago, The Prophet said:

The new contract for Dummet and targeting Lodi makes me wonder if we're switching to a back three next year.

I'd doubt it. Howe has rarely gone 3 at the back in his managerial career. Tends to save it for very specific game plans, like Chelsea away this season.

He’ll probably end up signing and I’ll feel daft, but I’m hoping we don’t go back in for Lingard - the salary rumours are insane for the bloke.  Would rather get someone younger and hungrier (and better).

Absolutely. I was all for signing him till I heard his wage demands (I believe the figure being touted is £150k p/w). Which would make him our highest earner. He is good, but not £150k a week tier.

  19. Just now, SUPERTOON said:

Do people think we will have finalised plans and targets for the window, or it will still be an ongoing process ?

I reckon it will be like Jan. Where we will have priority positions, with a good few names on the list for each position that we work our way through.
