He wins more England no.6 shirts than Bobby Moore if he was able to stay fit. Woodgate and Ferdinand would have been a hell of a partnership (they were at Leeds before their ‘peak’ years)
-
We saw enough games to judge him. And so did Real Madrid tbf - no matter successful he was there, it isn’t every day that arguably the world’s biggest club comes in for one of our defenders
-
Woodgate is the only defender I’ve seen where the SJP crowd audibly gasped on his debut. His ability to read attacker’s runs, and intercept them like a crocodile does a swimmer, was unmatched. As an actual defender, he’s still unmatched. Botman might supplant him if he’s here long enough and continues to develop in the way he is. Schar is more like Albert for me - an excellent footballer who would probably be just as comfortable in midfield. A really good - but not great - centre back.

I love how every match they play in the lower divisions is their opponent’s ‘FA Cup Final’, yet we’re the arrogant ones

You’ve just imagined ‘Tac Tic Toe’, a new quiz devised & hosted by MrRaspberryJam

Newcastle United vs. Luton Town: 3/2/24 @ 15:00 (No UK TV)

We shouldn’t underrate these. No-one has really walloped them other than Brighton back in August (and they avenged that one in style). The vast majority of games that they lose - including against the top three - are usually by just the odd goal. Bollocks on the line, I think we’ll win - but I think it’ll be tighter than we’d like. -
I shot it down too. Apologies Stiffmeister

Not sure when it will sink in re the UEFA homegrown player requirements. It will at some point though. Definitely.

I wouldn’t start Gordon tbh
-
Yep, that would be my front three too

The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League
TheBrownBottle replied to Rich's topic in Football
Winning the UEFA Cup or Conference League would comfortably bring in the same money as the CL stage. And a trophy, plus both competitions have some fantastic big teams and historic clubs from all over Europe. I bastard love European football -
Has more bookings than any other PL player this season …

Grown men have better engines; Miley is still a kid. He’s still got a lot of growing to do until he’ll be able to keep up.

The Europeometer™ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Champions League
TheBrownBottle replied to Rich's topic in Football
It is, though I don’t think that Conference League qualification would be a booby prize -
Thought he was superb tonight until he tired - understandable given that he was constantly bursting from midfield. Sometimes he was playing inside forward.
-
Best game in yonks for me. Miley in particular but also Longstaff pushing forward allowed him to play the holding role properly. He was just pinging it about. No booking either
-
Masterclass from Howe tonight. Fixed the Bailey issue by going five at the back - it was more experience than what was happening in front of me that made me a bit nervous after that
