  1. ‘Or mixed fans bookings’ Aye, I can definitely see that happening
  2. No harm in trying* *disclaimer - this may not be strictly true if you manage to get a ticket
  3. They’re a really odd bunch, it’s such a bizarre outlook. I’ve never heard that shite come out from a Geordie - it’s always Mackems. The only other one like I can think of is when you hear Leeds go on about their games with Man Utd as if they are a reenactment of the Wars of the Roses, forgetting that neither Manchester nor Leeds existed in any significant way in the C15th, and even if they did it Lancashire and Yorkshire weren’t the ones counties involved.
  4. I remember the ‘lock out‘ derbies in 96/97 - there was a box of Mackems in the East Stand. They went mental when they scored - and so did the odd punter around the ground. The ones in the pleb seats were booted; the ones in the box got to stay. Can’t imagine it would happen today, but who knows.
  5. Likewise. I’m a football fan not an accountant. Clubs tend to spunk the European Cup money windfall quite quickly tbh - often unwisely. I’d take a cup over the ability to sign a better right winger next season. You can’t predict the future - who knows, perhaps that cup is the only one we win. Or perhaps I get hit by a bus in July. Fuck knows. Give me a trophy any day.
  6. He absolutely would have known it’s a possibility. I can believe that he’s stupid, but that would be beyond thick. He fucked us over royally as far as I’m concerned.
  7. Not singling him out, but we’re far more defensively solid with Burn in the side. I’d still play Burn LB away from home until it is sorted. Tino is ultimately Trippier’s long term replacement.
  8. We should definitely make that offer. It would be a frisk, as the radgies used to say
  9. They do like putting about this ‘it all began during the English Civil War’ shite, as if their grievances are marked by centuries. I’ve heard it a number of times, happily regurgitated by shite - sorry, populist - local historians and journalists. Newcastle during the civil war was a major town, with fortifications and all that malarkey. Sunderland was a handful of fishing villages with a population of around 1,000. They’re utterly mad.
  10. I’ve seen us play Barcelona four times. Someone new would be nice. Bayern or Real for me, please.
  11. Unpopular opinion, but Burn starts ahead of Livramento at LB for me when fit. Didn’t think the lad looked great vs Bournemouth, Everton or Spurs. Clearly he’s quality and will become consistent.
  12. He might well be tbf - I would have said so before that European Cup Final. He hasn’t played a lot of football since. Not sure at all - but I’ve no issue with him being given a shot.
  13. No danger of that, there won’t be any shit just laying around there, it’s a football ground Oh
  14. Goalkeepers are defined by their mistakes, particularly if they occur when it matters most
  15. Loan to buy - maybe, given that we’ve likely got nowt to spend due to FFP. But we’d be daft not to ensure that we’re confident with the man in nets. Far, far more important than a RW or a covering centre back.
  16. I’d say there is no other time than now. Watching Dubravka and Karius in nets for the next five months could cost us a lot of points. Who is more likely to win you more points - a first rate goalkeeper or a third choice centre half?
  17. Goalkeeper should be prioritised ahead of any other considerations. If the view is that what we have isn’t good enough, then strengthening elsewhere is meaningless. If your GK is costing you a couple of goals per game, I’m not convinced that getting a DM or a RW really is going to make up that difference.
  18. I wouldn’t, tbh, if offered that Faustian pact. A cup run including beating the Mackems would be sumptuous
  19. I just love the fact that the soppy cunts think that the KSA govt gives a solitary shite about away allocations in the FA Cup. Their sense of their own importance is incredible.
  20. Love that everyone’s favourite footballing pop intellectual and philosopher doesn’t know the difference between AM and PM. I’m worried that he isn’t a footballing Marcus Aurelius after all.
