We were below Spurs when he left - and we only recouped what we paid, which indicates how far his stock had fallen. He’d been shite for two years by that point.
-
He was trouble from towards the end of 02/03 - on a constant pissed-up prowl of Baha Beach Club more than once a week alongside Dyer. He was never the same player full stop once his professionalism suffered - can’t say I blame Souness as the rot was already well and truly set in.
-
Yep - the football twitter equivalent of psychics
-
Because arrogance and delusion Hang on, that’s not right - we’re the arrogant, deluded ones - must be some other reason
-
Yep - Pope was an upgrade on Dubravka, but I wouldn’t be unhappy for us to spend big money next summer on a new keeper
-
Worth remembering that given he has a sell-on clause to Spurs, they've actually got just shy of 12m for him (the add-ons may never come to fruition) edit: only saw Wallsendmag made the same point after I posted

If we’re not allowing football to have been invented in 1992, then Bobby Charlton and Nobby Stiles won all three …
-
No, but he was on more than £2m per year by all accounts - and £2m per year would be the PSR hit on that extra £10m
-
Bet he has a cheese Toastie waiting for him
-
Was going to say the Black Bull - but the Garter would be just as salubrious
-
I get the PSR worries re overpaying, but it should be remembered that if we’re ’overpaying’ by £10m, that’s the PSR equivalent of what Matt Ritchie’s wages were each year - and they’re now off the books. If this is who Howe wants to spend his budget on, the man should be backed.

I’m not doubting that you know them, but I would doubt that they’d share information on whether he’s leaving the club or not. I would’ve thought that the ‘happy here, no intention of going’ line would be said to anyone who asks - other than to immediate family or agents. There’s a hell of a lot of noise around him leaving for it to be fabricated.
-
I’d be unimpressed if he goes to Everton on loan. Would scream ‘tantrum’ to me - sell him or keep him, but loan is an insult.
-
I don’t think we’d get more than we paid for Livramento or Hall just yet tbh
-
Arteta isn’t on Pep’s level, though I’d happily rank Emery alongside him. Howe isn’t in that bracket - he can’t be without a piece of silverware.
-
Harry Maguire for starters …
-
Aye, when the manager has come out afterwards and basically stated Schar was at fault that wouldn’t go down well
-
Steve Parish is spiking the water with his own piss down there I reckon
-
It is still the case for ‘frivolous’ appeals - which this would have been
-
You have two days to appeal - so it’s clear that we haven’t
-
Agreed. He’s a clear upgrade on Schar for me
-
Literally haven’t seen anyone say he’s one of the best defenders in the world
-
Looks like Ipswich are £45-65m short of his valuation, then. Love it when the real world comes crashing in on them. I’m betting RTG goes into meltdown when he leaves for £15-20m, rather than viewing it as really good money for the lad

The good BR side didn’t have enough of them, unfortunately. Lee left relatively early In the 01/02 season. That side was talented but patently lacking leadership
-
Keegan once talked about needing several captains in the dressing room to win trophies (when talking about why we didn’t win things). I like how many leaders this squad has, and adding Guehi as another is sound thinking. Who really cares who wears the armband?
