Morton Hjulmand might be a bargain for a defensive midfielder. Lecce rejected Southampton bid of £8 million and demanded £18 million in the January window. Might be cheaper in the summer but may have more suitors as well.

How would you rate our January 2023 Transfer Window?
rebelrouser replied to Rich's topic in Football
7. Could have used a midfielder but think they really like Maddison and Leicester wasn't letting him leave in January and he should be obtainable in the summer. Gordon can play in the midfield and on the wings and Chelsea wanted him for 60m in the summer. We got rid of some deadwood and the club is much younger today than it was before the window. -
Ashby for 3m is brilliant and allows us to let some more go. Really like he learning under Trippier and resting him some too. It would have been nice to get a midfielder, but we may not have the room right now, and Gordon has played CM quite a bit.

Joelinton, Bruno, Willock, Longstaff, Anderson, Gordon.

Or was he told we wouldn't be triggering his extension? Wish him the best. Club just got 9 years younger w/ Shelvey out and Gordon in.

He should already be embarrassed that Joelinton has largely replaced him on the left wing. I love Joelinton as a midfielder. He is simply not a forward. This transfer provides cover for six positions. I hope it provides more scoring too.
-
I would normally agree but their fans are chasing him down the street and blocking his car. Daily Mail. I wouldn't want to play for those fans either.
-
Agree. He is about as useful on the left wing as he was at striker. Brilliant in the midfield though.
-
Their fans are attacking players now and the board has been told to stay away from home games. sportbible article Not sure I trust their fans' opinion when they are currently so emotional.
-
No. Remember when we had Joelinton playing out of position as striker? He scored as many or more goals with more assists than Wood. And that was under Bruce. If we sign a forward who can cover striker, we will be much better off. I like Chris Wood and think he can help Forest stay up. His time was up at Newcastle.
-
Don't hear much about our interest in him anymore. Seems like he would be a very good transfer for us.
-
If the opinion was that he is not a number 9, that opinion was correct. I hope we sign someone who can play lw so we can keep him in the midfield.
-
Kudus as AM or winger? Marcus Edwards looks really good too although he's a bit short and seems to like the right side.
-
Bring in a midfielder that can put Longstaff on the bench and a winger that can score and cover striker.
-
Trossard seems perfect except for the age of 28.
-
Still more important to get a midfielder or someone who can play across the three forward positions than another striker despite the Wood news.
-
would much rather we sign one very good midfielder than this group of castoffs. Sure they would help with Bruno out but i'd just assume roll with Willock and Longstaff in the long run. We know they fit and are not attitude problems. also no need to help Chelsea out of their mess.
-
He actually played striker for them yesterday. Seems like more of an AM.
-
ASM not likely to score a lot and will Isak be that much of an improvement over Wilson? He's certainly necessary with Wilson's injury history. Would like to see Joelinton play in midfield rather than lw too.
-
Our defence is outstanding and our attack not so much but still good. Seems like forward or midfield for the January window.
-
Seems like this was an ideal setup. With ASM's future in question, I wonder if a lw is a priority. Is Joelinton best at lcm or lw? I would say lcm.

Salary Sport has Targett at £79,000, which is much more likely.
