Newcastle United Vs. Bromley - 12/01/25 @ 15:00 - Live on BBC iPlayer

I really do not like big Joe in this game. Not only would I like him to get some rest but he can get easily wound up, and it's not worth it against this team. Looking at the team seems like he didn't have much choice, which is worrying that we don't have a backup with the same profile. -
You are quick. It was posted 7 minutes ago.

Under that logic they don't need to charge anything. It should be free to everyone. And they will have a ballot to decide who gets to go. I could very well be in the minority here. I just don't think it's the crime everyone claims it to be. I'm more reacting to the whining about the ballots. What do they want it to be? There is more demand than tickets. I think the membership + ballot scheme is as fair as it's going to get and the alternatives will only make it less fair.
-
$40 membership and $25 tickets is considered milking? We'll have to disagree. I'd be happy catching the odd game in person and enjoying them on the telly the whole season. It's not even about winning, I want them to compete.
-
I don't want to be insensitive to the fact that money is tight and not everyone has the ability to pay. I just honestly don't get it though. People want to win and transfers, but don't want to contribute to it. Lot of the crying over access to tickets come across as cringe entitlement. The alternative is to eliminate the membership and tack on to the cost of tickets. That makes it even more unequal as the prices will only get higher and higher. The membership cost is the way that you as a fan gets to support the club in an affordable way. $40 for a year worth of access, it's less than $1 a week. And it gives you the chance to buy a ticket at (what I believe is) well below market price given the demand there is. If you were to just let the market dictate prices tickets will easily be double and SJP would still be full every week. I have not won a single ballot entry. Wish I would but I don't feel entitled to winning one. Did you have better access when Mike Ashley was running the club? I'm sure, but look at the shit you were watching. I would rather get limited access to tickets but have a great club that challenges for silverware than cheap tickets to absolute garbage.

The Europeometerâ„¢ (2024/25) - NUFC Qualify for Conference League (at least)
NobbySolano replied to Rich's topic in Football
The problem here is clearly the shit start we had. We already have as many losses as we did in the 22/23 season. We have to turn some of those draws into wins or well fall short. And we still have some tough away games to play (Liverpool, man city). We must make SJP to be more than just a fortress where we don't lose, but a place where we win at a high clip. -

I understand where you are coming from. You should dig a bit deeper into the connection between those country's club success and their national team success. There is a great book, the name currently escapes me, that talks about it. It's the system and the coaches of those club teams, building an identity, that then translated to country success. England/the fa in their wisdom have done nothing to build that identity. Look at the current (lack of) English coaches, bar Howe, and a lack of system and identity. Up until now with Southgate , England had no identity other than lot of talent doing their best individually. In any case. Could care less about other English teams performance unless it benefits Newcastle. And I sincerely, nothing personal, hope England doesn't win anything internationally in my lifetime. Most insufferable fans around the world. Would rather see anyone else win it all.

I think I just saw Tonali pull his hamstring

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. Everywhere I look it says that yellow cards are cleared after the quarter finals. I went as far as downloading the EFL cup rules document - which makes no mention of yellow cards! Yet I see multiple people saying Bruno and schar will miss out. Can someone confirm and provide a source for the yellow cards handling?
-
I was under the impression yellows get cleared after this round. Am I wrong?
-
it is bad but its not like its worrying. def feels like a testimonial or pre-season game.
-
holy shit Almiron. terrible.
-
Thank god for Schar. Without him i think our avg pass would be a meter or 2
-
Willock should be stepping up here and perhaps shift a little more centrally. Or bring Almiron into that space. We are just clueless with the ball.
-
its quite the contrast when the ball played on the right side - its slow, crowded, and bereft of ideas (except that 1-2 from Longstaff to Almiron just now). While on the left side it feels more spacious and faster break.
-
Early impressions: 1. Dubs stepping up closer to the back line in possession. More than I have ever seen him do. 2. Livramento looking poor... 3. Miggy is in the way. not creating space, just taking space in a crowded area. 4. Osula with 1 chance.

Lot of back and forth here, i would offer this perspective. As a non-local and happened to be too busy last coupe of days I only saw some headlines, a few posts and the meltdown here and some quotes. But I did NOT read any of the british/local media. I did not have time and didnt feel like reading shit journos. Instead just now I was finally able to read Waugh's article on The Atheltic and I cant figure out where all the meltdown and whining is coming from. Mitchel did not come across nearly as negative or avoidant of responsibility as many say. I did not feel any of the answers were condescending when he was calling Howe smart, he used the same way to describe PIF - it sounded more like that is just how he talks. I also think he was just very direct and straightforward - not trying to pander to anyone or use kid gloves. Called it the way it is. Could he have laid on the train tracks and taken the blame? sure, but what would it serve? Dont get me wrong I can see why some are reading into it, but thats people projecting their insecurities. I love Eddie and hope he is here for 20 years and several trophies; but if he took a big exception to what was said then he needs to put his big boy pants on and stop projecting his own insecurities as well. For the record, I do NOT think Howe is reading this the same way, and they have already had a talk.

20 shots with a xGA of basically 0. The shot volume was by design, I'll take that any day. Possession was a problem but not unexpected when you look at our back four + Pope. In any case, I am actually surprised that you are betting everything on ETH. There is nothing that I've seen to date that would suggest he will come good. But you are closer to it and you watch them closely and at the end it's your team, IDGAF. I doubt you win 5 on the bounce. You may beat Spurs because that defense is just shite.

I do like Martinez and could see Ugarte maybe doing a job.
