It isn't all hindsight. As soon as the lineup came up you are going to wonder where the goal is coming from. If he had gotten lucky and Gordon had scored (which he wasn't, and hasn't, and won't as a CF) then he would have still made a mistake. Play the game in front of you at the premier competition. Worry about the game on the weekend after. You don't know what may have happened. Wolte puts that goal away and then Gordon instead of Barnes puts the other one in. You are up 2-0 and you can revert your formation and rest wolte anyway but you likely win the game. He went with the lineup that has not scored a goal all season... What's there to debate? This is not Howe out either. This is, do better lad. That was chicken shit stuff. Now if saving big Nick doesn't turn into a win at Bournemouth you sacrificed 2 games. I rather go down swinging and losing to Bournemouth of it meant actually going after Barcelona. And by the way, the press was not all that great. I'll preface and say I think Eddie is the best manager we've had. Sue me. But today he got it wrong in so many ways and I think he, for once, lacked conviction and believe. He tried to not lose and nick one. It feels like it was a bit big for him again, which is surprising. I expected a lot better. He will be fine and hopefully learns from it and grows some balls.
