£30m Delap, £30m Trafford, £40m Guehi Reckon that's a good way to spend £100m?
-
I'm someone who is sick of the Villa praise of late But they have bought/sold/developed players extremely well imo If they were given a £80m helping hand from Saudi, and bought a couple defenders/Rashford/Asensio or replacements etc, they'd be hard to match next season
-
Extend for a year and sell to Saudi / another team? Thats exactly what I am hoping we do with Dubravka
-
So tottenham are complete opposite to us, FFP rich but cash poor Also, would Villa still be paying Rashford's wages if he is out for the season? Not sure if loans have a break in contract for situations like season long injuries etc
-
I agree it's not a priority position, but next after CB, RW and GK for me If Wilson leaves and Osula goes on loan, we definitely need a good back up striker. I don't think Isak will be able to play 50-60 games a season, and doesn't seem the best once it gets past 70 mins or so And next season it would be great to do similar to what Villa have done this season - strong European campaign, domestic cup run, and chance to make top 5. And for me having Isak and DCL wouldn't be enough for that imo
-
Deffo agree on the loan Would you sell 1 or both of Longstaff and Willock in this instance? As we'd have too many CM's doing this
-
I'd only be happy with DCL in these scenarios (assuming Wilson leaves and Osula may go on loan?) Osula was good/productive enough as our 2nd CF and DCL is purely a tactical 3rd choice when we want a target man / 2 CF on pitch Osula goes on loan and there is no better options on the available (Delap, Emegha etc) We go big on a AM and RW, like Cunha and Mbuemo, and between the front 6, cover for Isak is sorted either with DCL or Mbuemo covering, Cunha as false 9 etc My reasoning being is that I'd rather we get people who make a difference to the starting 11 or squad, DCL seems a liability with poor scoring record, injuries and isn't young anymore. Having said that, PSR and all that so do think in some scenarios he may make sense.

Doesn't he have a release clause that is cheaper than that?
-
£30m Delap > free DCL that's for sure So in theory we could we see a front 6 of Isak, Delap, Barnes, Gordon, Murphy, new RW With Wilson leaving and Osula on loan? I'd take that, especially if the RW was an Mbuemo level one Makes the Cunha link recently seem a bit weird, I can't imagine a world where we'd sign a £60m attacking midfielder and want both a CF and RW as well, would cost a bomb
-
Edwards says Delap, Hope says Cunha Probably end up with neither!
-
Chelsea, their bottomless pit, and Dean Huijsen then... When will their spending end? Tbh I thought he'd look elsewhere, seems to be smart/well advised, other than the 7 year contract, I'd have thought he'd be better off at a different top club Unless they're giving him a release clause
-
If Villa manage to keep their loan players, I think they have an easier time putting a top 4 squad together compared to us Looking at their current squad, and add a top RB and probably a top CB and for me they're probably the 4th best team in the prem Whereas for us we are a ST, RW, GK, CB, and then imo a CM and FB away from having the 2* quality in each position / limited drop off Though Villa's wage bill is a good chunk bigger than ours, and hopefully we make CL for the 2nd time in 3 years.... So it's definitely way more complicated than I just laid out
-
They wouldn't in your example, as they'd be 1 point ahead But yeah, 3 wins and a draw guarantees us ahead of Villa
-
So, I don't need to masturbate over Emery and his squad no more? Finally!
-
But I thought Villa had great substitutes?
