Agreed. It's there-or-thereabouts for value and I think the deal satisfies everyone. Regarding the sell-on, this is confirmed by the NY Times Ornstein article*. No mention of the amount but I assume 10% minimum, so not bad? Can't imagine he'll retire in Catalonia. * https://nytimes.com/athletic/6431483/2026/05/27/anthony-gordon-barcelona-newcastle-transfer/ Archived (paywall-free) link: https://archive.is/bqNiN

Job's a good'un. Decent fee, sell-on fee, cunts gone etc. Youth and potential on that left wing please. How much Wolves want for Mane? Probs more than the Gordon sale aye?
-
What's the obsession with banjo strings Bobby? Feels a bit like you're projecting. Did you get a stress-related injury to your frenulum from shifting it to Ms Collins? Anyway, catch ya later Gordy.

Should have dropped a few extra mill on Strand-Larsen in retrospect. At least there'd be some return on investment. I still think Wissa will contribute something next season but it goes without saying how shite a transfer it is.

£70m is alreet for starters like. Hopefully the add-ons are reasonably sizeable. Good bit of business if he's offskis for £75-80m all-in and we get to move on. Who we spunkin' the proceeds on lads?
-
Glad it's 'moving fast' but selling immediately as Barca want to avoid bidding against others seems a bit farfetched. They'd really have to match our valuation for that surely? Hopefully that's not the £60m being bandied about, as that's shite.

Everton man, what ya deein. Hurry up and relegate these bottlers

Looked like Pope was in the air for about 10 minutes. Flopped like a salmon Nice goal by the Scot.

Shame that Denmark failed to qualify for WC. Think he'd have gotten time and may have continued the momentum through to (hopefully) a successful 2026-2027 campaign with us. Interesting player. Seems very hungry to succeed and willing to work hard. Lacks polish but still a young'un, and even if he doesn't end up leading the line he'll be worth something on the back end.

Marco Rose already appointed for next season

Wasn't using it as a excuse to downplay Gordon. There's a reason he's worth what he is and with room to grow. In the context of the original post (discussing Barnes' value) and how others were discussing selling him, I think it's relevant to contrast the output of the players we have and their seasons. Part of that includes the open-play goal malarkey and with that I think the non-pens are practically meaningless for comparison or assessing performance.
-
They absolutely would consider and state that if they were comparing and assessing players especially with regards to who to stick or sell. A more apt hypothetical comparison would be, if Woltemade and Osula had both scored 10 but Wolt had 6 pens. The non-pens are without a shadow of a doubt a clearer indicator of goal-scoring performance, because you could have given those 6 pens to any other competent penalty taker. Not sure about the latter part, I don't consider what someone did multiple seasons ago that relevant if they've not hit that standard since, otherwise we should be back in for Wilson when the hammers get relegated
-
No? One player gets them and it's largely arbitrary. Penalties aren't a repeatable, reproducible source of goals. You may get 3 in a season or you may get 10. Odds on about 4-5 players (maybe more) in our squad could score the same number if they were ones taking it from the spot. It's not an indicator of good performance.
-
Not sure we replace his open-play goals as easily as some may think. This season: Gordon - 17 goals (8 pens), 5 assists Barnes - 16 goals (0 pens), 5 assists Gordon has played through the middle or his preferred left. Barnes has been chopped and changed positions and game time. Despite Gordon being alreet at pens, I've never liked it. Prefer the striker on them. For that reason I don't even consider them in my mind when comparing our LW options. Barnes has scored 16 this season, Gordon 9. Think wor Harvey is woefully underrated and I know which one I prefer to keep/extend (though Gordon is off regardless in my mind).

He's a good manager but I fear we've grazed against the upper limits of what will be achieved at this stage of the 'project' with him at the helm. When you start to doubt the manager it's really hard to see them turning it around and achieving the things we all hope for. I think it would be foolish to think fans are solely experiencing that doubt too. I do expect that next season will be an improvement, though that's not saying an awful lot. It's not only about results though, the playstyle and tactical setup leads to tedious viewing. I'd like Howe to be offskis at the end of the season. Think it's a good time to do it. For him, his legacy, the club and a clean slate. The city will always love him for what he's given us.
-
Perfectly valid question and response regarding the Gordon thing. If at a prior presser Howe made comments along the lines of "I won't play anyone who doesn't fully want to be here or play at 100%", then surely the public touting by Gordon's camp effectively tells you that Howe should not play him by his own ethos. I don't see how anyone can argue otherwise? I also don't understand people acting offended on the coaches behalf. Howe isn't your mate and the journo said nothing truly controversial or insulting.

A bidding war... For Anthony Fucking Gordon. Get it on lads
-
Not sure I get the negativity around Nunez like. My first thought was a lot could go wrong (see Wolte, Wissa) etc but on a free it's almost a no-brainer. So long as wage demands aren't outrageous, a decent season could also up his resell (think Kelly to Juve). It's not like we have to keep him for donkeys years.
-
That the rules like? I thought there was no element of intent in UCL?
-
Why'd he stop play immediately if he hadn't whistled? What's gan on
-
2 goals 3 assists across 16 games (1100mins~). That's not everything of course as he's looked pretty good in games I've seen (albeit limited).
-
Feels like it was doomed from the get-go. It's clear from this season that the system and tactical style Howe implements and desires requires a mobile striker. I also don't think he would regularly break his 4-3-3 to offer a formation where someone like Wolte would play in-behind a striker. Maybe next year with a full preseason there'll be some evolution but I don't actually believe that, which is why I think it's gonna be pap seeing highlights of this lad in another kit.
