He made some fantastic saves today; otherwise, the defeat would have been even heavier. And he's really got some nimble feet. I'm reminded of the moment with Thiaw when Watkins got a shot off and almost nutmegged Pope. Unspectacular, but a great save.

Yes, exactly. Joe learned it too. I still remember his time in the Bundesliga when he was a striker. He was completely different back then. And he managed to adapt to the Premier League. I hope Nick learns it too.

Nick is just too nice a guy. I also think he should go into tackles harder. Screw it if the defender takes a beating. He really needs to learn to be a tough guy on the pitch.

That really wasn't very nice of you. Especially as an administrator, you shouldn't make such a comment to an active member. If I were offended, I would withdraw from this discussion...

Newcastle United 0-2 Aston Villa (25/01/26) | post-match from pg. 52

I only joined this season and can't judge Eddie's performance in previous years. I like him a lot; he comes across as very down-to-earth and likeable. What I do criticize, however, is the rigid system he uses. He doesn't seem to have a Plan B, no alternative tactic when things aren't going well. He mostly makes one-for-one substitutions, true to the system. And I can't stress this enough: why not play with two strikers, especially when I'm losing? I just can't understand it, but then again, I'm not a coach. -

Whether it's Wissa or Woltemade, both are finding it difficult to score goals regularly in the current system. Wissa is supposed to be a complete striker, but I'm not seeing much evidence of that at the moment. -

In my opinion, you should try playing with two strikers – Wissa and Woltemade – especially if you're behind. -
Very well written. I completely agree.

Nick simply doesn't fit into Eddie's tactical system. He can't utilize his strengths in this setup. He's not the number 9, the penalty-box striker, the powerhouse. His place is behind the striker or in a system with two strikers. He's so talented, but it's not going to work in this system. If things stay this way, he has to leave, otherwise he'll lose his place in the national team. Nagelsmann relies on players who get plenty of playing time at their clubs and therefore have a certain level of form. Nick's form from the early months is currently gone. And he won't regain it in this system, especially when he is Wissas backup. My enthusiasm has evaporated, and I currently see a bleak future for him.

Eddie needs to be more tactically flexible. It's unacceptable that we're chasing a deficit in the second half and he keeps making like-for-like substitutions. And it's not working; we can't equalize or win. Why not two strikers on the field? I just don't understand it... -

The two are currently on a level. I think Wolte should come right away, but I'm biased. -
I feel the same way in every game, and I'm always annoyed that Wolte isn't getting the ball. The hype surrounding Big Nick is unfortunately over, and he'll probably only come on as a substitute after 65-75 minutes for now. My enthusiasm has faded a bit, as I always want to see him on the pitch. And yes, I know Toon is above every player. The thing is, I haven't been able to get inspire about Wissa yet...
-
It's generally agreed that Woltemade is isolated in the current system and that there's a gap between the striker and midfield. Initially, he was able to mask this with his brilliance and unique goals. Now his form has dipped, and this problem has become apparent. What surprises me most is that the established striker Wissa is performing even worse than Woltemade in this situation. As long as Howe doesn't change the system, neither Woltemade nor Wissa will be able to fully convince.

Perfect analysis. You seem to have watched all the German national teams' matches. I couldn't have put it better myself.

I always pay special attention to Nick. The lad makes himself available for a pass so often, but he never gets played in. A few times he would have been through on goal if he'd been passed to him. But the midfield always plays the ball out to the wings. And from there, they usually just send in high crosses. Either the midfield is too rigidly structured, or the players simply aren't intelligent enough to play Nick's game.

Greetings from northern Germany. Toon's going to win today and finish in 5th place. And Big Nick's finally scoring again. Plus an assist. Howay the lads!

I only joined the Toon this season, but I'm loving Toon more and more. The games are so dramatic; anything can happen right up to the final whistle, for better or for worse. I like the mentality, I like the fans, the team spirit. It's simply fantastic. Besides my two fellow Germans, Bruno, Barnes, and Miley have especially won me over. Hall is also close to joining my heart.

I am heterosexual, but if I were gay, it would only be with Nick.

I simply love Nick and his style of play. Nothing about him is normal, everything is extraordinary. There was that perfect outside-of-the-boot pass to Barnes. Simply otherworldly. And when he misses a penalty, even that looks otherworldly – he sends the keeper the wrong way, unleashes a shot like a hammer, the crossbar crashes, and the ball flies back to him. How he rejoices with his teammates and cheers them on. Everything he does looks extraordinary. Even his facial expression after he misses. I've rarely seen such a sad face on a footballer. You feel sorry for him. This guy is so unique that Toon should be happy to have him on their team.

Nonsense. I think Nick is having a good game today. Some good runs where he unfortunately wasn't passed to. The assist was so delicate.
