Dokko
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_2684029,00.html Viduka challenged to score By Amanda Cornforth Last updated: 25th August 2007 Viduka: Goal challenge Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce has set Mark Viduka the task of scoring his first goal for the Magpies against former club Middlesbrough on Sunday. The 31-year-old Australian will make a rapid return to The Riverside after he rejected the offer of a new contract in the summer, before joining North East rivals Newcastle. Viduka, who scored 19 goals for Boro last season, could further aggravate the Middlesbrough fans if he opens his Newcastle account and Allardyce is urging the striker to not just score but to bag the all-important winner. Winner "If you want to get off the mark for your new club, there could not be a better place to do it than going to your old club," Allardyce said. "On many occasions, it seems to happen that way, so I certainly hope that's the case on Sunday. "But the goal must be a winning goal, it must not be a goal that means nothing. It must mean a lot to not just him, but to us. "It must get us something out of the game." Break Viduka has started both Premier League matches for Newcastle so far this term but has been replaced by Shola Ameobi on each occasion, after a lack of a break this summer. He had a short holiday before joining up with the Australia squad ahead of their Asian Cup campaign and had only a week or so of respite, before beginning preparations for the new season with Newcastle. Allardyce is aware of Viduka's situation and is hoping that he will ask national coach Graham Arnold to be excused from next month's friendly clash with Argentina in Melbourne, in order to gain some valuable rest. "There is an international window coming up and I think he should take the opportunity to ask his coach if he can take a break, because it would be much more beneficial to us and much more beneficial to Australia in the long run," Allardyce said.
