Shearer9
Compare this back line from our last trip to West Ham in September of 2006: Carr, Moore, Ramage, Babayaro to the one that will start on Saturday: Beye, Taylor, Faye, Enrique What a difference a few seasons make, and Big Sam wasn't all bad. I'm still convinced that personel-wise, we improved greatly over Roeder's regime, even if the football was shite.
Baggio
Allardyce improved the squad player wise but didn't get the balance right. Replacing Dyer with Smith and not replacing Solano at all was idiotic.
Dave
Allardyce brought in some ultimately decent players. He just didn't have a clue how to use them.
AyeDubbleYoo
To be fair, we could also list a seemingly-awful back four that qualified for the champions league. - so I don't know what to believe

They had better players in front of them though in general.
KaKa
Looking back I really can't believe we stayed in the premier league in the year of the Roeder. How the hell we ended up with such bad players getting a first team game is baffling.

I suppose the more any defender is asked to defend, the more mistakes they'll inevitably make (see Distin/Campbell recently). Even worse when those defenders are actually shit. Luc
Against West Ham, Moore and Ramage will cut it.

gazza ladra
Beye, Faye, and Enrique are the best defenders that club has had since Woodgate left. Well, that's not saying much. But it speaks volumes.
