I had originally thought that, but deemed it too excessive, I'm warming to it again though. Put it this way, Martins will leave in the summer, we'll have a spare number nine shirt. We will probably sign a new striker (or two) in the summer but they don't have to have the number nine shirt, no matter how big a name they are (see Owen), why not give it to a local lad who has previously idolised Newcastle number nines?
