Royal Visit At SJP

HRH the Prince Of Wales was at St. James' Park on Wednesday during his visit to Tyneside for a Prince's Trust project.

HRH was in the region to launch 'Fit for the Future?', a campaign to highlight how unemployed young people are more vulnerable to binge-drinking, depression, poor diet, smoking and drug misuse, affecting their health and wellbeing throughout life.

Newcastle United is one of over 60 football clubs signed-up to The Prince's Trust Football Initiative supported by the FA Premier League, PFA and Football Foundation.

Supporting clubs provide behind the scenes tours, motivational talks and player appearances to attract young people to complete The Prince's Trust programmes.

Almost 11,000 young people have now benefited from the initiative.

During his visit, where he was accompanied by Camilla, HRH Duchess of Cornwall. HRH met Chairman Freddy Shepherd, Sporting Ambassador Alan Shearer as well as several current players including skipper Scott Parker.

His Royal Highness also showed off his football skills, beating Steve Harper with a penalty before making a speech and presentations inside the stadium.
