Quite surprised Routledge has so many votes, considering he's a failure at that level. I'd be more than willing to give him a chance though, he's certainly been brilliant in the championship.

think with most of our players we cant really know whether they will perform or not. honestly i'm only really confident about Harper, Enrique, Taylor, Barton and Guthrie.

colo and jonas have both showed they have the ability in the spanish top flight, but struggled last year.

What?

i was wondering just who, who would respond to that post?

and little be known you pop up.

infact it was you who scrutinised him early.

i dont honsetly believe that you think he wont cope, he has something to prove, he was down to be as good as lennon before a devasting injured which lead to him being loaned out to fulham and portsmouth.

blackburn: pederson and diouf

bolton: mark davis and lee

burnley: eagles and elliott

hull: fagan and hunt

stoke: etherington and lawrence

sunderland: reid and malbranque

west ham: faubert and diamanti

wigan: N'zogbia and McCarthy

wolves: jarvis and jones

these are the regular wingers playing for bottom half clubs, and i would honestly say routledge is better than just about all. he has pace and a half decent end product which is more than can be said for most stated above.

I never said I didn't like Routledge, just surprised that so many think he'll succeed in a league in which he's failed with several clubs.

As for the poll, more votes for Ranger than Shola.

Considering the question was:

If we go up and we are going to make a good fist of it next year, who stays?

I cant work out why people are defending Ranger's future career :undecided:

Its obvious he isnt ready next year as the question asked ;D

I dont get all this 'failed with several clubs' comments.Look at his record, with Palace he was an ever present in the Prem and i believe only Lampard and Henry got more assists that season. That was the reason Spurs signed him, broke his foot first game of the season,Lennon comes in and Spurs have best season in donkeys years....a bit unlucky you might say.Basically got no game time there hence series of loans. No coincidence that as soon as he was given a run of games at QPR he performed well enough to join the Toon, again run of games again performs...just behind Dorans in assists.but spent half a season at a much less talented QPR. I would wager that given a decent chance in the Prem he will again perform well.

I'd like a new keeper, a right back, a creative central midfielder and a proven striker. Thats juts for the the first XI.

Lots of work to do this Summer.

I really can't see us signing a goalkeeper. Harper will be number one with Krul probably leaving and Forster on the bench.

Though I'm not fully convinced by Harper lately, given our restricted budget I'd be disappointed if we spent decent money on a replacement anyway tbh.

Don't see why Krul would go just yet? :dontknow:

Harper's had a good season on the whole and put in some really, really good individual performances. But he's nowt like the keeper he was a few years back and the worries were pretty blatant from the back end of last season where, generally, he was total garbage. I was iffy going into this season with him as number 1, but, to his credit - he has had a really good year. The few ricks here and there, though, does concern you. If we could pick up a good, old keeper on the cheap for a year - i'd take the opportunity, but that obviously won't happen.

He won't be happy to have been on the bench basically all year even down here. Also we'll probably get a decent fee for him.

Just about good enough-

Colo

Enrique

Barton

Guthrie

Jonas

Routledge

Loven

Saylor

Good enough for squad/backup players-

Harper

Krul

Raylor

Kadar

Nolan

Smith

Carroll

Forster (need a 3rd choice keeper)

On Loan-

Ranger

Not Sure yet-

Williamson

Hall

Simply not good enough-

Butt

Shola

Best

Pancrate

Simpson

Fraser Forster's had rave reviews at Norwich but it may be too much to ask him to leap up two divisions.

in terms of 'who would be good enough to get into a team that would be better than forest, west brom and one of west ham/hull/wigan/burnley (on the proviso that we're already better than forest and west brom and one of the latter will go next year, thus ensuring we stay up), then the answer would be 'all of them.'

in reality, i think we need a new keeper, the defence is ok, maybe some additions to the midfield which is fairly solid but it's only pancrate/butt for back up so fairly weak in terms of replacement, and a proper 15 goal a season striker.
