Frazzle
Rooney was leading the line for Manure and England at 18, if he's good enough he's old enough. And look what's happened to him! He's bloody stressed, swearing left, right and centre.
ponsaelius
Also, while I know he was born in Belgium, I reckon there will persist to be suspicion over his age.
Colocho
Rooney was leading the line for Manure and England at 18, if he's good enough he's old enough. Would like to think we have scouts watching every second he spends on the pitch for the remainder of this season, if we'd even consider spending £20 million on him. The crazy thing is, people here the name 'Lukaku' and piss their pants in excitement, without even seeing him play.

ponsaelius
Anyway, I'd rather he didn't blow our whole theoretical budget on one 17 year old. Space it out over 4 or 5 signings.

Guest
You don't have to play FM to recognise that 35 goals in 89 games is remarkable aged 17.

We still have Eneriqe 15 million plus the rest of Carroll money which is 13 million I think we can do better with that.

Look at the players we've been 'linked' to over the years. Look at the players we've signed. I said what have you got against it. What do you care if other people get excited at unrealistic signings? I don't have anything against it. So let's say we spend £20 million on Lukaku + £1.5 million signing on fee + wages of £35,000 a week on a four year contract = £28.78 million. Which leaves a grand total of £6 million of the Carroll money to spend (£1 million if you believe reports Liverpool paid £30 million up front). AyeDubbleYoo
I'm nopt saying Lukaku is realistic, but wages will be spread over each year's projected income. We're not writing Lukaku a cheque for 4 years's wages in the summer, out of a big bank account called "The Carroll Money".

Guest
Well let's just say you're right Colocho and we spend £29m on Lukaku given all those figures you've given. Say Carroll had signed for £50k over 4 years and kept Carroll, we'd have been £49.5m down. (wages + £35m fee) I think in those 4 years I'd rather Lukaku at £29m than Carroll at £50m. AlanSkÃrare
Why is any journalist even bothering to mention Lukaku and Newcastle in the same sentence? Non-starter. A lot of people thought the same when we got linked with Ben Arfa. Aye, that said I'd love to be proven wrong here. Considering the hype surrounding Lukaku and not his actual ability, I find this even less likely than the HBA saga. I've seen him play on a couple of occasions, he's a beast in the making from what I can tell. Probably not 17 though
