On the up, or doomed to failure?

How are we off for English/homegrown players?  Barton, Nolan, Routledge and Campbell and potentially Ranger, Perch and Forster all out and being replaced by foreigners.  It looks to me as if the only English players in the first team will be Taylor/Williamson and Simpson.  Are we making the quota up with the kids?  Last year we had the joint highest number of English players with Villa.

It's not as if we're demanding a sugar daddy to come in and bankroll the club like Man City or Chelsea.

 

I just want the club to be ran with competency and a small amount of respect to be shown to the staff and the thousands of fans who plough in so much time and money in.

 

It really shouldn't be too much to ask. I just get the impression that despite all the bullshit about visions for the club (Our aim is to finish in the tope ten every season! We want young and hungry players!) and new directions, Ashley sees the club as a complete nuisance now and his "new direction" is to get by until the day a buyer comes along with spending as little as possible and selling to recoup his lost investment and reduce the wage bill. Until the day a buyer shows his hand, its going to be one kick in the balls after another.
