NUFC Statistical Analysis (12/13 Season)

Recommended Posts

 What have I done.

I'll look at my spreadsheet tomorrow with a view to re-evaluating my Arsenal status.

However, I'm apprehensive, given this is probably the 5th time we've all decreed that Arsenal are going to be shit, and then they finish 3rd.

Right, decided to make this a little more ambitious, but only by excluding Arsenal from the super-team list. They're shit. This makes it a battle for 5th. The OP has been updated accordingly. I will update results on Monday night after Man Utd pummel Everton.

If anything it helps them because if they do decent, they'll improve quickly as they have less points to defend.

Why battle for 5th and not 4th ???

Think it´s implied that Arsenal is the 4th team. But I don´t think they are that good that we can´t compete. After all. This thread should be about reaching a goal, and reading interviews from pardew, Tioté etc our goal is to get in to the 4th position.

Other than that. Great thread

 can't win man.

WE SHOULD BE GAN FOR 4TH vs 7TH FOR ME LIKE

It's not changing. It stays.

It's battle for 5th, because 67 points will not get you 4th, and the formula dictates that 67 points is what we're aiming for. It'd get too fussy if I tried to work out a way to gain another 9 points or so. I don't really want to force it so that the newly promoted sides need to be beaten, because I don't believe that their recent promotion makes them weaker than others.

I think it just would not surprise many if we finish above Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal these days, hence the "Battle for 4th" move is understandable. But realistically, the aim should be at least a repeat of last season, which I would welcome with open arms if we are to have extra games in Europe with a rather small squad.

Also worth mentioning that we had a "Battle for 7th" thread running for the whole length of last season, but soon we eventually saw our chance at 4th, before ultimately settling for 5th. The thread title is irrelevant, it's the final league position that matters. :)

Ok I get it now. But still. why is it the battle of 5th when you calculate that only 3 teams is going to be too good for us. Just because 67 points historically will get you a 5th place that doesn´t make this a battle of 5th
