NG32
With the January window now officially open, the rumour mill is well and truly in full swing. A report by Luke Edwards of the Telegraph has emerged, and it lists Newcastle’s main January targets, as well as the players that may leave the club this month. It is believed that stubborn owner Mike Ashley has provided the club with £15m to spend, and that he wants several unwanted players to be sold before any reinforcements are brought in. The Telegraph say that the Magpies are targeting a number of British players, such as Charlie Austin, Andros Townsend and Patrick Bamford. Experienced Hull City captain Michael Dawson could also be on his way to Tyneside, in what would be shock move considering United’s transfer policy. It is also stated by Edwards that Moussa Sissoko could leave for a Champions League club, and also that Ayoze Perez is attracting interest from all across England. The likes of Mike Williamson, Yoan Gouffran and Sylvain Marveaux are all deemed surplus to requirements at the club. Newcastle currently sit in a dangerous 18th position, with the gap between them and survival increasing each week that goes by. If the Toon are to maintain their Premier League status, then they’ll need to spend serious money in this window. http://readnewcastle.com/2016/01/02/newcastles-january-transfer-targets-revealed/ Carrying out a squad overhaul in January when you sit on 17 pts and half the season completed. This overhaul is next summers moves brought forward. When will Fatman learn anything.

Robster
After somehow surviving last season, despite that tragic run of results under Carver, Ashley will gamble that the current squad is sufficient to get us through until May. We'll buy no one.
Dave
Nah I do actually think we'll buy a forward. Though it'll be the usual punt on someone who would rise in value rather than someone in form. Probably then sell Perez to pay for it.
Jesse Pinkman
Is it a sign of how bad things are that I'd actually take Dawson at this stage?!
Wallace
Has Dawson played much this season? He didn't play on Friday - injured or out of favour? I would say he is more of a typical Sunderland signing.

ikri
Why haven't we signed a goalkeeper on loan? Rumour was that since Krul was injured on international duty the Dutch FA would pick up the tab for a replacement, if that's true then not having someone in place to join on day 1 of the transfer window is rank incompetence. Even if they're not picking up the tab, not arranging for a backup keeper to come in on loan on day 1 of the transfer window is rank incompetence. Elliot is playing well and we have probably at least 5 positions who are more important to stenghten than a new keeper.
sempuki
I could see us bidding £12m for Carroll or something. People getting excited on his Instagram because he uses a Newcastle-themed cup. I'd be all for it if he could stay fit.

He's been close to missing games through injury a few times already and has missed one through illness. He's in the form of his life right now but cannot be relied upon to keep that form up and stay injury free for the remainder of the season. Darlow as backup is not ready for this level of competition and Woodman is completely untested.

Guest
Carroll scores at least half of the clear chances Mitrovic has missed imo. Mitrovic is probably slightly ahead of the level Carroll was in our relegation season tbh. Think he needs help though. Not Cisse.
