Losing Longstaff in the summer means another CM has got to come in. Given Wilson also needs replacing and Willock is in a similar place to Longstaff it’s really going to stretch the budgets

I don’t think it’s feasible for both Willock and Longstaff to leave in the summer, too much risk in losing both, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Longstaff sees out his contract, but we shall see.

Willock will remain unless a bid comes in that makes us stand up and take notice. He at least still impacts games when he comes on with his dribbling with the ball from CM, and he's contract ends 2027 so we can play around a year.

I agree with the sentiments that he struggles more coming off the bench it seems, as it looks like it takes a while for him to get up to speed with things when he comes on.

He's not going to have the opportunity to start games or play as many minutes as he has previously when he was starting, and so can't see things getting better, if he needs major minutes to get into a rhythm.

There's been a nervous, panicky feeling about his play when he comes on recently that is really uncomfortable to watch.

Shame he can't figure out a way to adjust to coming off the bench and being more of a squad player, as he could have been a solid no nonsense player to throw on to tighten things up and just keep things simple in possession, but he's even struggling with those basics.

I think he does better when he gets explicit instructions on his role in the game. Which players to mark, where and when to make runs, who to pass to, etc.

When he comes on as a sub he doesn't get the level of instructions and it's usually at the same time that the opposition is making changes too and he can't adapt to those changes on the fly.

He's shown that he's a capable player under Rafa and Howe, both of whom almost certainly give him that level of instruction, but was crap under Bruce and his Let's just kick it about style.

Either way, it's time for him to move on. He's not getting much game time now and doesn't look great when he does get on.  If we ever want to really start to complete for the league we need to be much more ruthless and move on those players that aren't capable of keeping up any more.

Weird how Howe is loyal to the point of frustration but in an instant you are gone from his thoughts... Burn (lb), Miggy, Longstaff and to a point Wilson once Isak got up to speed.

To be fair we don't know what happens behind the scenes, he could have been having raging arguments for months about keeping Miggy before they finally sold him. It's not like he's going to air that in the press, even if he's crying himself to sleep snuggling Miggy's old pillow every night we wouldn't know the difference.
