I really wished he could have had 1 last sub appearance these past few games before he left. Deserves all the love and gratitude. Ask Rafa too. He'll probably say the exact same as what Howe has said there.

I still think Covid wrecked him. He never really played after he got it, and looked absolutely wrecked when he did.

 

I hope he still has a few years in him and it's not curtailed his career, but it's always vague "fitness issues" rather than specific problems, which makes me wonder.

He was fantastic when he came on against Norwich, when knacker Ned got himself sent off. Played a huge part in us not getting beat that night. Certainly looked like there was still a player there. Sure he will find another club no problem.

It was a shame he didn't get a chance at redemption under an actual football coach like Fab but appreciate he's a few years older and I trusted Howe's judgement if he deemed Fede the one most surplus to requirements. Think it says it all if Elche have done the same after just three months.

 

Always seemed a good egg so I'm sure he'll land somewhere that can make use of him for his last days if he wants to keep going.

Assume if he continues to play it’ll be somewhere he just wants to live and be at for the long term. Would love him as a coach or at some type of unique role for us as he was just an incredible pro and always felt he was captain behind the scenes.
