Ollie will not play in black & white again

Glenn Roeder has all but confirmed that Olivier Bernard will never play for Newcastle again.

The French left-back is nursing a hip injury after failing to make a single first-team appearance since rejoining United in August.

Bernard now requires an operation which will sideline him for the rest of the season.

And with him only being on a one-year contract, the 27-year-old is set to be on his way again next summer.

"He has an ongoing hip injury that is not going to go away," Newcastle boss Roeder said of Bernard.

"That will at some stage in the near future need surgery which would take him out for the rest of the season."

Bernard is on an estimated £4000-a-week, meaning he stands to pick up just over £200,000 for a year of inactivity at St James's Park.

For a second, thought it was 'Oliver on the way out - Alan O sacked from The Chronicle on charges of fuckwittedness'.  Ah well, maybe next Christmas...

thats an easy way to earn 200k...

Owen picks that up for "not playing" 2 weeks.....

Another stroke of transfer genius....

Owen scored 7 goals in 11 games, sure his season was full of injurys but comon, this is Michel Owen we are talking about here,if he returns and finds his form, just having him in the side is a granted 20+goals.. (if he is on form)

While Bernard was clearly a panic signing,FFS he played a few reserves game and i guess the staff saw just how shite he is,so they decided to keep him out of the team, still somehow he managed to get himself injured..
