Disappointing. That's right though in that it changed after we scored which can expect but we never regained it and needed something to try and gain some control. We rattles their centre halfs in first 35 mins then just ended up being passive for next 60 mins of the game

And it is part of the reason that I am falling out of love with football. It’s very difficult to hold that cognitive dissonance, and would have been way easier to shed if we didn’t have the grim Ashley years. But You also have a number of American owners who support the genocide in Gaza. And snake oil salesmen heading UEFA and FIFA. Football is just another facet of the worst aspects of human civilization at this point. We can’t escape it. Agreed, sadly. We swapped a workers’ rights abuser for a human rights’ abuser - and at least one of those two descriptions can be levelled at pretty much the entirety of the PL owners. I struggle with it because I think that I can’t justify it ethically - a bit like how I feel about eating meat (I don’t think I should, but I haven’t even attempted to stop). Football is now the plaything of a small group of people who are collectively responsible for making the planet much, much shitter than it should be. Lush Vlad
Just now, Vinny Green Balls said: He’s certainly earned the chance to salvage this season in my eyes I don’t see where the improvements are coming from to get the near top 6, progress further in the FA Cup/CL or even just suddenly start playing well on a more consistent basis. However, I said a month or so back. That after being so wrong last season after Brentford away. It would be daft to underestimate him again. I can’t see what changes and I’m not confident. Not in the league, anyway. As there are so many factors at play as to why I think we’ll struggle. A lot of those aren’t really even on Howe. But he has definitely, 100% got this season at least. To try and right some wrongs.

Disappointing. If you can't understand simple concepts like "momentum" that are abstract but very real and have shaped football from inception, then I can't really help you. You don't think 60+k capacity stadium getting behind their team doesn't affect the opposition? The reaction to this is to prevent their flow and quieten the crowd and shift the momentum. This isn't witchcraft by the way it's pretty normal... that's why teams win at home more often...

I thought Gordon caused them problems in first half but feels like a sub maybe even in 55th minute may have helped change momentum, we waited until 73rd minutes when already 3-1 down, was only going one way from then. Could see it happening much earlier though and not sure why Howe couldnt Exactly
Jonas
17 minutes ago, Rod said: Sleep it off. You will see sense in the morning. It was hardly an emotional reaction like. There's no evidence were turning this season around so we'll enter the summer with over a year of underwhelming performances behind us at a point where he either does turn it around for next season or doesn't. Think if anything its boringly rational to have doubts in that circumstance, the alternative is to be convinced he will turn it around or convinced he wont which nobody can know. My point was pretty uncontroversial, games do have an ebb and flow to them, and momentum can shift. I am not seeking to insult you or be tricky, this is not a wild concept, momentum is just a normal part of football.

But yeah, when we’re out. Same point applies, just means we’ve got longer to wait for our form to turn the corner. Fair play for admitting it, but seriously? This helps reinforce my opinion that there seem to be a lot of supporters not enjoying the Champions League performance or appreciating yet another League Cup semifinal. The league form is not good, but I don’t know why it needs to cause this extreme of a reaction when there are other good things. And if you’re expecting consecutive CL qualifications then your expectations are too high. And considering that just about every manager and play is complaining about the number of fixtures and the difficulty of playing multiple games every week you’d think our best manager this century would get a little grace when we have half the resources and smaller squads than they do.
