Sure but he bought them for 150m, and now one is playing in midfield.

Who else was available?  On paper Wissa is a proven goal scorer, since his injury he's been dire.

And on paper Woltemade is a top prospect.  Neither have been effective for us, and don't even seem to want to attack the box when crosses are coming in.

Imagine our attack with Ekitike and one of Mbeumo/Cunha. And how many more points we would have.

We bought them though, we can't turn round and say we've got no strikers now. It's not like we paid peanuts either, we paid over the top money to secure their signatures.

Yes he scored double figures last season and now he looks like a player ready for retirement. Why cant Howe get more out of him? Point is you are blaiming all bar Howe, saying we have no striker to use..

With the manic fixture schedule we have endured none of our players are on the training pitch for one.

Why not just recognise the fact that there are mitigating circumstances for our position in the league.  Panic signings because the top brass have fucked up the transfer window haven't helped us or Howe.  Having a top striker would go a long way in improving our form.

Hopefully those signings come early in the summer.

Sure I agree, but we cant just ignore that the striker position (and say we have no striker to use) is a huge problem, and its Howes job to make it work.

Howe had more control over the signatures than at any time in his tenure here. Maybe he shouldn't have, but you can't pretend those strikers were pushed on him.

What other options were there?

Every striker that had been available we explored and they signed elsewhere. We were attempting to replace arguably the best striker in Europe.  Woltemade was a panic buy which Howe couldn't exactly say no to, since we had no one else and couldn't sell Isak until someone else was in.

He put a striker who scored 9 goals in midfield while his other striker bought a flat opposite Greggs. Howe isn't blameless.

Tbf when he plays in attack he doesn't touch the ball, or try and get on the end of any crosses.

You don't buy a striker who doesn't fit your system no matter how desperate you are. Wissa was also a massive mistake.

It's fine to make the odd gaffe in the transfer market but you can't put the blame on the board when Howe was given more or less full control of the transfers last summer.

Wissa was only a mistake in hindsight.  He was proven, available and wanted to come.

We paid over the odds to get him in and he hasn't worked.

Wissa scored more goals last season than all the strikers who rejected us. Are we just going to ignore that?

And imo PIF surely would consider whether bring in a new manager / head coach would already solve the striker problem

Wissa was a good signing on paper albeit very overpriced.

He got injured straight away and had no pre season, hasn't worked out so far.

You are going on like we had no options. We bought one of the best goal scoring player last season. its a bit lalalala.. fingers in the ear, head in the sand etc.

I partially blame Howe for Woltemades confidence being shot - he has completely mismanaged him this season.

Howe does what he thinks is best for the team.  It's pretty clear it's not working at this moment of time with Nick and doesn't trust him to lead the line just yet.

Huh, he had a significant injury and no pre-season?  That isn't made up. He hasn't worked so far.

Hes been fit for some time now. Even Howe has said that.

Hopefully with some training pitch time we can see him turn around his form.  Hope so, but not very optimistic.  Doesn't look the same player as he did at Brentford.

doesn’t mean he did it right though? Surely everything he did was for the team but he obviously misjudged it
