As I have said a hundred times on here, I have made no secret of the fact I don’t think Eddie is the guy to take us to the next level. I love him as a person but I think he has already reached his ceiling and bounced off it. 
Am I willing him to fail? No, of course not. Like everyone, I am willing him to succeed. 

But do I think we need minor tweaks to go on a winning run that secures European football? again no. I think we need a whole new gameplan.

Nothing we are seeing suggests we are close.

Do I think Eddie is the kind of guy and manager to rip up the script and do something radically different to give us fresh impetus? No, but I seriously hope he proves me wrong, and if he does I will happily eat humble pie.

 

As things stand, the only way I see us getting back to our best is with new signings.

 

i respect and admire your optimism but I don’t share it. There are too many red flags starting to show.

Nah the new CL format is a lot harder. The extra 2 games are a killer.

Still the games are coming thick and fast. 
 

if you look at Emerys record.  His European success does often come at the cost of poorer league form.  
 

Villa will at least make it to the CL play offs.  
 

 

CL for teams like us and Villa is a myth.  The PL is too competitive and we don’t have the budget to have enough quality in the squad.

Have to say I am bit worried about Livramento. Of course the bigger problem is the right winger, but his passing and decisions when to release and when to dribble is quite often lacking. He is getting better defensively, but comparing that with Trippier's attacking play it really is a big change.

Really doesn't work at the moment no matter who is playing at right wing. And definitely there has to be a left footed player in front of him.

The downfall of Trippier has been one of the biggest contributing factors to our attacking form.

Livramento was never going to fill that Trippier role, he’s just not that type of full back.

Yea, I get that he is different type of player. But in attacking sense we are not getting the best out of him. He should be encouraged to put the ball in the box quicker, cause the 1-2s are not really his thing. His movement is just not smart enough, but he has the technique to get his foot open and cross. Like you said Hall is the player for combinations.

I feel we are overcooking the Livramento thing. He's not Trippier, but not many right backs are. If Trippier is that important to our football then just play him. Personally think the midfield and forwards need to be showing more, while full backs overlapping is a big part of football these days, we should still be able to produce down the right without relying too heavily on a defender.
