Looks that way. Towards the end of the season Galloway really seemed to tail off. I am assuming they didn't think either were up to Championship standard.

They’ll be looking to push for promotion again this season so no surprise to see big changes. It’ll be the same again every year until they get to the top I’d have thought.

Yeah, this is the reality of a huge money takeover of a side in the equivilant of League 2. Was always going to be massive turnover each Summer in order to ensure the best chances of consistent back to back promotions. With there being no FFP to worry about in the womans game I imagine if you fast forward 3/4 years we will consistently challenging at the top with Chelsea, Man City etc.

There's also the possibility (or probability?) that the WSL equivalent of the "Big 6" are going to want to prevent us from doing just that. The quicker we get ourselves a seat at the top table the better.

Quite the opposite

They want us to be in the WSL/ top 6 as we have a great following and can push the womens game to another level - increase tv audiences / attendances / etc

Lots of positive comments from a lot of the bigger teams in regards to Newcastle women / supporters / ownership

We have players still on the books listed as 'forwards' but none that have reagularly played as striker. The only one, really, is Nicki Gears, who was injured as far as I recall. I agree with others, we have probably judged, correctly, that we'll need to recruit to compete at the next level. To be honest, we have got in with multiple guilt edged chances and not scored. That was o.k. at the previous level, as we usually scored enough to win. In the championsip (and, especially, the WSL), chances are more at a premium and you have to score a bigger percentage of those chances ... as the opponents will.

Edit

As for the goals, we lose Galloway's (17) but keep Barker's (14), Gibson's (14) and Mcquade's (12). Bailey-Gayle scored 7. As said elsewhere, Galloway seemed to tail off and Bailey-Gayle missed some sitters. Looks like they've taken notice, reckoned their returns will be less in the championship and decided to act (assuming it was purely the club's decision). Sad but that's where the woman's game is at the present time.

We'll see. Easy to make positive comments about us when we're two (now one) leagues apart.

Big surprised to see Gayle off so quick. It's sad to see so many leave but I don't appose the ruthless nature.

I'm excited for who comes in. I think they will go for it this year again and being a league apart we can't start attracting a top league player or two now with our project. The turnover was unfortunately necessary.

Another tough ask to yet essentially a new team to gel. I can't believe we will get promoted this year again but not getting relegated will be key!
