Last time we bought a 60 million striker who scored less than 5 open play goals the previous year it didn't go too bad mind. 

 

No idea if he's worth it cause I don't watch Brighton, but from his highlights he looks like a player who would work well linking with Isak.

 

Anyway, just sign more Brazilians, they're good at football. Get Ederson in from Atalanta and Murillo from Forest too. Then sign even more.

He’s really gonna’ help us break down low blocks. Float in those half spaces, tease defences away from their box whilst creating space for Isak, Gordon/Barnes etc. Should work exquisitely well with Tonali and Bruno.

He’s got 28 goal contributions in the league across 2 seasons with 19 of those being goals in the league - and is 23 years old and a full Brazilian international. He had 6 goals in the Europa league 2 seasons ago for Brighton.
 

Now I am actually a little annoyed here. So he’s scored 25 goals and has 9 assists across 2 seasons in all comps. How is that not an excellent return for someone who was 22-23 years of age across both seasons?

Isak had also scored 17 league goals in a la liga season by 22 and 13 in 16 by 20 in the Eredivisie. 
 

That poor season prevented a bigger club from going in for him.  
 

Pedro is a little closer to Gordon (but more established). It’s a great profile fit for Howe and gambling on potential.

He’s scored 10 non penalty goals in the last 2 seasons. 9 assists. Thats not amazing.  Minteh has 10 G/A at the age of 20. 
 

Kevin Schade has 13 league goals and 4 assists last season alone. 
 

I think a lot of JPs value is outside of G/A anyway.  But his G/A and expected data is underwhelming when you exclude penalties. Which I’m going to do because he’s not taking penalties here (even though - he’s not missed any in his career as far as I can tell). 
 

Minteh is the opposite, his all round game is raw and basic. But I fully expect him to score and assist 10+ in a season because the final ball, composure, penalty box instincts, finishes are good now and will only improve.

Of the penalties JP scored, how many did he win himself?

It's excellent that he won many of them, which he did. It's also very good if he wins some here and Isak takes them. I think its a poor reason to knock the lad.

Definitely think we must want JP for his link-up play and awareness etc more than anything else. To get more from our other attacking players. He does a lot of great work around the halfway line with little touches, hold up play and keeping possession moving. 

 

Don't see him playing RW at all though, that would be nothing like what he's good at. So must be a formation change in some games or rotation with Isak.

Didn't some journo say the pitch to Delap was that he wouldn't be back up, that he'd get plenty of minutes with Isak ?

Yes I think the ability to have different looks formation and tactics wise as well as rotating with Isak would be excellent. We still need to improve RW though and say we did sign JP it would still be good to bring in a RW of some description even if it’s from the continent and someone of unknown potential.

JP is def leaving us - he wants to go and club want rid. In the offices ‘No Dickeads’ is written in huge letters across a wall and unfortunately JP has crossed that line.

His play acting when a defender says boo has been embarrassing (we all love it when one of our own players becomes the pantomime villain to opposing fans, but there  is a limit  and he goes way beyond). He also has a temper that earns unnecessary red cards.

 

BUT he is a VERY good footballer. His goal stats are somewhat flattered by the fact that most have been pens (and he is not usually the earner of the pen) but what team doesn’t want a reliable pen taker? He is superb at pens and probably the best we’ve ever had.

 

Goals from open play are less common (though the winning goal v Ajax in Amsterdam will never be forgotten) but his ability to create opportunities for others is undoubtable.

 

What is he worth? Given the demand for strikers,£60M is probably fair. Though don’t be taken in by this. Tony Bloom never reveals his target fee and he always gets what he wants. Everything else is clickbait/media speculation.

Should he go to NFC? I don’t know but if he does, I hope he does really well for you. But I have a suspicion he won’t be as great as some expect and so I hope he goes to Chelsea!

Nice summary, I'd argue if he wants to go and club want rid thats an angle to squeeze a slighter price out of Bloom.
