He wasn’t even a regular starter here in the A-League. I feel sorry for the lad tbh. Maybe he was just never very good to begin with. Freddy Adu was insanely hyped and wasn't very good at all. Enthusiastic fanbase, sympathetic level of football. Although staying with us for the first 12 months was probably the right move. Totally agree, would’ve been a perfect move for the lad 24 minutes ago, Skeletor said: Maybe he was just never very good to begin with. Freddy Adu was insanely hyped and wasn't very good at all. He never looked anywhere near it to me tbh - it was all built around 45 mins in a friendly against Barcelona, who looked as interested as we did against the same side (the A League XI). He was very, very raw - he wasn’t a regular starter for Central Coast at the time (apropos of nowt I’m heading off there in about an hour for a day with my partner’s family). Australia isn’t exactly a football hotbed, and the locals who do watch it got themselves a wee bit overexcited about the lad
TheBrownBottle
The kid comes across well, mind, and seems to be of really good character - if he leaves I hope he does well elsewhere
Menace
It was a £400k punt. At best it pays off, at worst it's a few weeks wages for one of our players. Wouldn't surprise me if he does semi decent in la Liga or Portugal tbh

The move there has to be a year at the club playing regularly for the under 21s to evaluate his level, and then make a call on the appropriate level of club for him to go on loan to.
