Also forest play direct to get the best out of wood and they seem to be picking up wins doing it.

Could osula not be used as targetman and get players in and around him to get the same effect?

You mean wingers crossing in to the box to a strong man in order get a goal? What is this sorcery??

Are we going to have a new Lewis Hall situation were he isnt going to feature until we literally have noone else and then he turns out to be great? ;)

I'll give Howe the benefit of the doubt based on Hall.

Howe will know when he's ready. He knows more than we do.

Guess we have a different read on that situation. To me he didnt wait until he was ready, he waited until he didnt have any other choice.

Hall was Chelsea`s best player in those last games before he joined us.

I didn’t watch Chelsea to know but I work with two Chelsea fans (kind of - I work in a hot desk environment and they also use it) and they loved him, told me he was a great signing when we got him.

Doesn't always work out that way though does it?

We loved Andy Carroll.

I bet Liverpool fans don't.

Does prove he was / maybe a good player and not as raw as people on here would like to believe.

Hall was always destined to be a quality footballer, he was Chelsea’s academy player of the year, had made a number of appearances for their first team and had even been called up to train with England due to the potential he had.

The only issue Hall had was fullback being a new position for him, and if he would make it there or would be better off as a left central midfielder, so he needed time to adapt to the position and cut out mistakes, which he would have got on loan or training in that position.

Osula hasn’t got anything like that sort of pedigree and nothing about him or his career trajectory screams that he is destined to be a top player.

What strikers do need is minutes on the pitch and building up confidence in front of goal, even if that means dropping down a division to get games and goals under their belt.

Maybe.

But he struggled against Dortmund (I think) and then was back on the bench.

I think Howe wanted to make sure Hall knew what he wanted from him.

Yes he had a bad half against Dortmund and got hauled off at half time and didnt get a single minute for a long time, even when we were struggling big time with fatigue and injueries. Not exactly confidence building.

Do you think Tonali wasn't ready to play in the no 6 role until yesterday after two years of prep?

No I don't. But Howe obviously did.

And he's the manager not me. 😄

Yeah just you said he knows more than us, which tbf is obviously true, but that doesn't mean he's always right so it's just not much of an argument.

And know he's a first teamer and an England player.

If he continued playing and struggling (It's a what if) that wouldn't be good for building confidence either.

Of course he could have continued playing and performed as he usually does too.

He's paid and his career lives or dies to make those decisions though.

Us, not so much.

Dare I venture whose at fault for not playing to a player's strengths in the same vein when Isak plays for Sweden.

He seems to do that with other players though - some can play shite week in week out and never get dropped whilst we have players like Tonali on the bench.
