Grade System

 

A - World class. Could play for any team in the world.

B - One of the best in their position. Would get game time for most teams but they're a level below the elite.

C - Solid PL starter. A team consisting entirely of Cs should be comfortable in the PL but wouldn't challenge for the top places.

D - PL squad filler. Everyone needs a squad. These are the players who can help with rotation and backup but you wouldn't want them starting too often.

E - Not good enough either by virtue of general ability or being past their prime.

 

Based on last season:

 

A - Bruno

B - Hall, Miley

C - Tonali, Tino, Gordon, Thiaw, Botman, Burn, Joelinton, Trippier, Ramsey, Woltemade, Schär, Osula

D - Barnes, Murphy, Pope, Ramsdale,  

E - Wissa, Elanga, Willock 

 

A lot more positive than I anticipated, but I suppose a lot of the guys in the C tier would've been in A or B last year. 

 

To me, a C tier team/team of solid PL starter ends up being midtable flotsam and jetsam with a few good players balanced out by a few shite ones. This is where we are now.

I’d give Barnes a C last season and personally I’d give Hall an A. I think Thiaw deserves a B. Other than that I agree with your ratings

Would be tempted to rate Miley as a C as he only started 15 league games. Other than that I'd pretty much agree with that.

Don't think it feels right that any defender gets above a C for last season tbh and outside Bruno (A) and maybe Barnes (B) I wouldn't think any others are higher than that either. Miley and Joelinton keep getting injured, Tonali middling, Woltemade early promise into midfield bollocks, not much outstanding to go on really.

Only one player stood out last season and carried us. A for Bruno, B for Hall and Barnes and honestly don’t care about the rest

Tbf I had him as top of the C list but I had a last minute change of heart and put him B just cause he's one of the few players I actually still like. But aye, realistically he's a C

Tbf him, Bruno and Hall are the 3 I'd put down as not for sale under any circumstance. He does need to play more, and obviously that means keeping himself fit for selection for longer.

Based on overall on what I think they'd bring to us this season rather than just last year and previous seasons.

A- : Tonali

B+ : Hall, Livramento, Botman

B : Woltemade

B - : Thiaw, Barnes, Joelinton, Miley, Ramsey

C+ : Schar, Burn, Elanga, Wissa, Pope, Murphy. 

C : Willock
