Owen: I will not be bullied.

Optimistic Nut

Recommended Posts

He's only interested in playing for England and is using this club as a 'stepping stone' for that. He deosn't want to be here but no ones coming in for him so he's stuck-bless him!

Amazing how many pseudo-psychologists (or should that be pseudo-psychics?) inhabit internet messageboards nowadays like.

Seriously, you're basing this dross on three things - his transfer fee, his wages and - most importantly - his name. If Alan Shearer had done what Owen did, would anybody have reacted the same way? Honestly? What about Nobby, if the same situation arose with him? Shay Given? My bet is that you wouldn't have battered a fucking eyelid.

Now don't get me wrong, I don't think Owen is a saint. It's true that he could have done a hell of a lot more for us during his time at the club, and it's true that his injury problems are more than a little concerning. But to criticise or question his commitment because he wants to play for his country is - in short - absolute fucking drivel.

Owen can fuck off like. It wouldn't have killed anyone for him to say "I want to stay at Newcastle" or "I'm not too happy and will keep my options open" instead of saying fuck all and allowing the speculation to just build and build. He's a sly manipulative little shit who is a good actor. My heart bleads.... NOT! Just get back scoring goals Michael me myself and I Owen.

If someone had tried to blackmail me into saying something the way Shepherd did with Owen, I would have kept my mouth shut too.

Have to agree with you on this like, Chris. That's one thing that really does grate on me about the Owen scenario - rather than all this club vs country bollocks. He could have put an end to all of this drivel by coming out and fully commiting to us ages ago. The fact that he chose not to is... interesting, but still not necessarily indicative of a lack of commitment or desire to play for us.

Oh... Right. If that's the case can I post some race-hate and qualify it with a safety wink? What about an illegal download site? Some hardcore porn?

No? Okay then.

Post the full seasons fixtures lists with a wink for all I care.

So your opinion is that anytime some f**kface writes or speculate something about some NUFC player, he should step out and say that this story is bullshit and that story is bullshit?

I rate Owen, because he doesnt say anything. He doesnt need to comment anything for any f**king newspaper story. No matter if its true or untrue. Its wankers own problem if he need to be convince because of this and that, every time when he reads some crap from some shitty magazine.

That's what got me about the whole thing, I'm big enough and ugly enough to accept that some players might want out, I don't have a problem with that. If I were him I'd have wanted out too, in fact I'd have never signed, but he did and he must either make his bed and lie in it or be man enough to let people know what he intends, in wor case to sit and wait for one of the big four to come in, which meant we uncertain and had to work around the fact he might stay or he might go regarding transfers. As for his relationship with fans, he has done himself no favours by remanining tight lipped. Many a reporter asked out straight whether he wanted to stay at Newcastle or not and he always refused to answer. Why should fans forget that? Like Owen who only cares about himself, NUFC fans only care about NUFC.

One thing I am certain of though, is that on the pitch he'll give his all and off it, he'll be a model pro. Just a shame he's such a manipulative schemer.

The mass inferiority complex of NUFC fans continues.  Even when refuting what he's always been accused of, people still have a go.

Cutting off one's nose to spite one's face, all we ever seem to do.

Well said.  Some bastards are only happy when there is something to whinge about.

Erm... Nope, I didn't say that.

My opinion is that if he'd came out EARLIER and given a statement one way or the other regarding his commitment to the club, it would have prevented this fan backlash.

Maybe its just better to learn to trust him, than stab him in the back because he has always been a quiet boy and doesnt want to comment everytime when other peoples making noise about him or his future without any idea what the truth is.

I'm not saying I don't trust him. In fact, I've posted four or five times in this thread defending him.

The fact is, however, that a lot of people on here obviously don't trust him, and he could have prevented that (or at least lessened it) quite easily.

That's rubbish. After the first day's training with Allardyce he came out and pledged himself to us. Why, in May/June when he hasn't got a f*cking clue what's going on with the club with a takeover bid, not knowing what Allardyce's plans were, etc. should he have said, "I'm staying"?

He DID come out OVER TWO MONTHS AGO ago committing himself to the club. You must have missed it. It's right here: http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=42546.0. Should he have held a daily press conference reconfirming his commitment?

Owen really used to wind me up, but I think it was only because we needed him so badly in previous seasons. At this moment in time I honestly couldn't care less about whatever he is up to.

When he is ready to play and Sam feels he is worthy of a place then I hope he does well and scores us goals, but other than that ... meh. I think our attacking options are terrific at the moment and we can more than get by without him.

I think it will do everyone at the club a world of good to recognise that things at Newcastle no longer revolve around him. This will hopefully spur the player on as well, as he will have to work hard to prove himself worthy of a place.
