It appears (if you were to believe the tabloids-which I don't) that Portsmouth are prepared to listen to offers for Matt Taylor in January. I would certainly be interested. As much as I think Enrique will come good I think he needs this season to settle. Look at Evra at Man Utd! First season poor and adapting, second season has been outstanding so far. I would be extremely happy with a left hand side of Enrique, Taylor, Zog and Duff. Four very good interchangeable players.
Enrique isn't going to settle if he can't get a game, Evra got better by playing, not by sitting on the bench.
Taylor is a far stronger left midfielder anyway.

I got an email about this today from the organisers. I'm not sure where they got my email address from though.

Which team are you?
-
I like the first option - an elder statesman with Premier League experience - and you pick Venables!
A guy who had 8 months at Leeds and thats about it, oh and maybe a couple at Boro.
-
Nice one Carew.
-
Hleb really is quite the unique player.
-
If Given ruins this for us he should be dropped permanently. Has really done nothing special to earn that first team place over Harper this season.
Joey Barton was talking about you.
-
He might be best advised to let his football do the talking, like he said he would.
-
Elano and Fabregas out.
hmm...

Willie Mckay looks scared on Sky, which is always a good thing. Him and jail sound like the perfect combination.

It's shocking really how EVERYONE seems to be able to see it apart from Sam.
How come it is like this with some managers? Every fan and pundit can see something, but the manager just can't? So frustrating!
s*** thing is, i thought those days were behind us when we got sam in.
There have been times with everyone of our managers where they seem to be the only one not seeing what everyone else does, that includes Keegan and SBR. I am pretty sure it is the same with every other club manager, Ferguson, Wenger, Mourinho. All of them make decisions that utterly baffle most fans.
-
Good for England, bit of a meh reaction from me.
Grew completely tired of Mourinho and his antics in his last 18 months at Chelsea.
Poor football, bad signings, constant whining, disgraceful treatment of referees, predictable press conferences and not being anywhere near as clever as people think he is.
Still would welcome him with open arms to us though.

Dyer ran around a lot, Solano and Robert actually produced something in the final third.
-
NE5 are you the old Leazes Mag?
-
I really don't feel any of the anger would subside if he was played upfront.
-
Was very surprised it took him so long to make his debut. I get the feeling that from what Sam saw of him in training, Enrique didn't appear to be the player he thought he was.

where did "efficient" come from ?Meh! He could be effective but people will have to get used to efficient football, the sort Dalglish and Souness tried as well some dull post match interviews with excuses for poor results.
I get the feeling once again, that people will easily turn against him despite initial optimism.
I've long given up on us attracting one of Europe's best managers, so this is probably the best we can go.
Well this what I said 6 1/2 months ago and its all been a bit predictable.
What do you class as efficient football then?
Efficient meaning do what was required to win, rather than doing it in a stylish way.

I agree with Ally, I've been seeing posts on here praising to him to the hilt, yet that's not what I have been witnessing. I've seen a defender play more long balls than Warren Barton did and look thoroughly unconvincing when it comes to defending. I expected so much more from him from what people were saying he was like at Villarael.

Arsenal had 76% possession in their game!
-
Blah.... all the teams we were supposed to be competing with for UEFA (Blackburn, Everton, Man City, Portsmouth) won today...
-
Barring a serious threat of relegation, he must at least be given the rest of this season and the beginning of next.
When Allardyce arrived, the club possessed deep-rooted problems from previous regimes which simply weren't going to be fixed overnight. However disillusioning recent performances have been, i still have faith he will have learnt something from each, and is ultimately the man to turn the club around.
And then end up sacking another manager in September, the worst possible time of the year.
-
Got to give him until the end of the season, then review it.
