I always find it strange that when it comes to sorting out the fixture pile up in this country getting rid of the League Cup is never discussed. Lets face it, they're never going to cut down the size of the Premier League so to me that seems the next logical step. Especially when you consider that the Bundesliga and La Liga only have the one cup competition as well as playing less league games. Although the FA probably don't want to bin it due to it being extra revenue for them. The majority of clubs from League One and League Two would probably be against as well. A decent run and draw and they have the chance of a decent pay day from one round which can make a much bigger difference to clubs at that level.

Agree with most of this. First 20 minutes we were well on top, if Hanley or Gouffran put away their chances we win the game comfortably I suspect. Second half was absolute dross. Tiote looked like the best player on the pitch for first 15 minutes but they were giving him time and space on the ball. Once pressured he reverted to type and nearly cost us a couple of times. From where I was it looked like all Gouffran had to do was tap it into an empty net from a tight angle but one he should manage but for some reason he turned back. Would like to see that again.

We looked good for the first 15 minutes and should have been more than 1-0 up but the rest was turgid. Never going to create anything through the middle with a midfield three of Tiote (liability), Colback (liability) and Anita (not a liability but offers little else in central midfield).

At the match, it looked as serious as that and his leg looked kind of bent. Hopefully this cut isn't too serious.

Hanley and Gouffran should have put away easy chances. The Gouffran one was a tight angle but he had an open net but turned back for some reason. Hanley was a free header 6 yards out unchallenged from a corner but put it over.

Better team first 25. Lost intensity and they came back into it. Tiote and Colback have been a libability in midfield and then giving the ball away has caused us problems.
