When I was young I had no sense, I bought a flute for fifty pence, The only song that I could play, Was fuck the Sunderland and the IRA. Or something along those lines.
-
I'd leave any job if I was only getting 20 quid a week.

Not a centre back tbh, we were horribly out of shape. We were, but he was totally useless. He's supposed to be a defender first and foremost. Positionally it's very different, angles etc.

A proper wall and he can't score like that.
-
Glorified Stoke City tbh, physical long ball merchants.
-
He was fucked and blowing out of his arse after half an hour.

We'll be going in more than circles if we go down again, it won't be anything like last time and would be an utter disaster.

We offered Guthrie a pretty decent deal by all accounts, his decision to go hunting regular first team football. That back fired for him in quite spectacular fashion.
-
He hasn't slagged any of our players off for fuck's sake.
-
I was listening at the time in the car, he was just using it as an example of naivety from a young player, not having a go at all.

Jesus christ, better be Shola in the role Cisse has played last few games with Cisse through the middle.
-
He's certainly lacking of confidence now, and I doubt he'll suddenly get it back only cause he's back to central. And the huge pressure he'll have to bear now won't help him either. I think it will mostly depend on his personality and how well he'll be able to cope with all these things. That goal at Old Trafford will have done his confidence the world of good.

Got a paper replacement earlier in the season when I left my ST at work, cost £2.50.

Love night time games, need a good atmosphere tonight, crowd has a big part to play even if we don't start so well.

Just before my cut off point, for last decade I've gone 1st Jan 2003 - 31st Dec 2012. He was signed summer 2002.

1999 wasn't in the last decade.

Duff added to poll options, how did I forget about him.

Following on from the ongoing discussion on who has been the best signing over the last decade how about we look at the worst? This could be interesting. Let's narrow it down a little... Jean Alain Boumsong Brought in from Rangers by Souness for £8 million in a very dodgy deal which was looked at by the Stevens inquiry into corruption in football. He had the odd okay game but on the whole he was appalling. Albert Luque A Freddy Shepherd special, £9.5 million from Deportivo La Coruña in August 2005, looked promising for a few minutes on début against Manchester United until he tore his hamstring against Fulham a week later. Not much of note after that other than injuries. This deal was also looked at by the Stevens inquiry. Will forever be remembered for 'wrapping it up' against the Mackems when we demolished them 4-1. Michael Owen Another Freddy Shepherd special, £17 million from Real Madrid, vast wages, wanted to sign for Liverpool really, spineless bastard, worst captain in the history of the club. 26 league goals in 4 season and captained us to relegation. Joey Barton A season of a half of good form doesn't make up for the rest of his time at the club which was filled with injuries, off the field problems and time at Her Majesty's pleasure. Total nutjob, very good football when his head is in the right place. Alan Smith Signed in August 2007 for £6 million from Manchester United on high wages, no longer the player he used to be and not up to Premier League football, had a few decent games in the Championship, finally off the wage bill at the end of last season, now sits on the bench in League 1. Ignacio María González Who? Signed on loan after Dennis Wise watched a clip of him on youtube and as a favour for an agent in South America. He made two appearances before a so called injury ruled him out for the rest of his loan period. Unwillingly at the heart of massive problems for the club which ended up with Kevin Keegan stepping down as manager, the subsequent Premier League tribunal found he was signed against the wishes of Keegan. Nile Ranger Brought in having been released by Southampton having served in a Young Offender's Institute for his part in an armed robbery. He's shown promise at times but his attitude and behaviour have been awful for the majority of times. Genuinely believes he is a gangster. Francisco Jiménez Tejada (Xisco) Signed for £5.7 million from our friends at Deportivo La Coruña in summer 2008, scored on his début in a horrible defeat against Hull City. Made less than 10 appearances in his 4 years at the club, still picks up his (rumoured) extortionate £50,000 a week wage packet. Other notable mentions go to Aaron Spear, Ben Tozer, Sol Campbell, Samuel Adjei, Lamine Diatta, Ronny Johnsen, Stephen Ireland and Giuseppe Rossi. Quite a choice here, we really have made some shocking signings in the last 10 years and I'm really not sure who I would go for out of the above. Thoughts? Please vote. Anyone obvious I've missed out?

Like the one we got £35 million for? He looks a class above to be honest, certainly an exciting prospect, I'd like to see him go out on loan tbh but we can't really afford to do that at the moment due to lack of numbers. That's one out of God-knows how many; absolutely shitloads. Fair enough though. Just cooling my anticipation of him cos, in all fairness, he's only been in and around the squad cos we're so woefully short on numbers. Same goes for Sammy. Of course it is, the vast majority of academy footballers don't even end up as professional footballers at any level at all.

Get used to this for the next month...

Perch is an accident waiting to happen at rightback and Pardew thinks we missed him in midfield against Arsenal. This. Santon RB and Fergie LB. Perch in midfield. Perch on the bench more like. no chance You'd have him in midfield ahead of Anita, Tiote, Marveaux? I'd even prefer Bigi in midfield ahead of him. I like Perch, the way he has turned things around here and become a likeable character is a credit to him but lets not get carried away, he can look relatively tidy at times and can play a simple pass but he isn't good enough at this level. He's a Championship player that is useful to have in our squad to his versatility and commitment.
