IIRC second choice keepers don't get many reverse matches so there is no point letting a 20/21 year old keeper waste what little career he has sitting on the bench.

You seem to like average defenders a lot. I understand your position, but what says that if him or Shawcross arrived that they wouldn't be far worse than they currently are. I've seen Colo have great games, he's definitely regressed a bit but I'm not sure he'd be worse than Dawson.

Completely agree with Ronaldo tbh, he just wants a defender that can defend and can dominate whilst commanding the back 4. Those he has mentioned can do this.

How many managers haven't held on until compensation because they knew they weren't up for it? I would be surprised if there was half a dozen. Gullit is the only one who springs to mind. As much as some pretend they would walk away from millions of pounds I doubt many would.
