Have to say I haven't seen that much of Westwood, but Mignolet essentially saved their bacon last season. What makes you say Westwood would be able to adequately replace him? Definitely. Mignolet was the difference between them staying up and being relegated last season.

But...but...it's not July yet!

When he signed he said he came here for the money. He's always been blunt like that.

What depressing midfield 'options'. Not one creative bone at all. Touched on it a while back, but two of our best performances under Hughton in the Premier League were 4-4-2 with Barton & Smith/Tiote in the centre, Routledge on the wing, HBA/Jonas on the other, and Nolan pretty much a centre-forward with Carroll. I think we could do ok with two of those central, HBA on one wing, a new winger, and Carroll with Cisse up front. All well and good if we had quality wingers to supply our attacks but we don't. We have one striker, one injury prone winger who more than likely will miss half the season and a bunch of runners/extra central defenders in midfield. We're only a winger and Carroll short of that imo. Hughton's team was built on being able to hit Carroll early from defence and from out wide with Barton and Enrique as well as Nolan to run beyond and pick up the flick ons. We have literally nothing resembling any of that in our squad now.

If it's declared as an 'undisclosed fee' I'm taking it as 'we got shafted by billionaires who've been throwing the cash around'
-
Yes but how much cash have they flashed?
-
That would be patronising. It's been quite obvious he doesn't want to be here since January. However he's a professional on the pitch.
-
Starting to get nervous about this now. A low fee will make this hurt so much more.
-
For now...
-
Wouldn't surprise me if we accepted a shitty fee for him.
-
Well this sucks...

The depressing thing is that the overall point it isn't wrong at all. Yes, there are some innacuracies in the article, and it's wrong that our supporters, as a whole, are being tarred with this image. However, a growing number of people are more concerned with huge fees for players, under the assumption that everyone can be easily replaced. A period of bad form means a player is 'shit', and we'd be 'robbing' the interested party wanting to pay £20m+ for this 'shit' player. It's bollocks. More than likely the byproduct of a generation of Football Manager enthusiasts with massively unrealistic expectations. In a nut shell.
