You're having a laugh, we've still got Barton and Emre hardly ever played and when he did he had as many shit games as good so he'll not be missed. total goals from them 2 last season = 2, awful, the fact that charlie will be playing in midfield next season improves it more Guthrie - one goal for Bolton, Gutterirez - 5 goals in his life.

We'll be lucky to see Barton before xmas - the point stands that you think the midfield has improved - I think it may have but only by a pretty slim margin.
-
How? Guthrie/Guitterez may work out but I don't see them being instantly better than Barton/Emre. Even if they are marginally better which is possible that's still not a significant leap up in quality which going by our failing last year of not creating chances is what concerns me. The pursuit of Modric/Aimar gives me confidence that KK know this but no matter what you say, time is running out.
-
True but the one before that was Sibierski and Bernard - it can work but it can fail (soz).
-
There was no early business supposedly because of the Euros - now time is running out imo - maybe we should have gambled on a couple of players pre Euros.

I have to add one of the reasons I despise Alan Oliver is that when Goma had hit a bit of form and had finally come good he broke the story that he'd been sitting on all that season that Goma had asked to leave at the end of it. The timing was a fucking disgrace and if I'd been in charge of the club I'd have banned the twat for life.
-
Thought Goma was canny. Also from earlier posts I thought John Barnes did okay for us - Rush was a fucking disgrace though.

There was a game against Everton in November I think where Bez got sent off where Pav pulled off a save which is probably in the top 3 I've seen - I remember getting incredibly pissed and telling everyone "that's why we're going to win the league". I don't think Pav was shit but take your point on Schmeichel - I also think Keegan playing Shaka at Blackburn cost us dear. Players I hate: Pat Heard John Trewick Ian Stewart Wayne Fereday Absolutely bottleless pieces of shit to a man.

Would people rather see the club debt free, run as a "proper" business with minimal player spend or the debt still there and a more ambitious approach (bearing in mind Liverpool, Man U etc live with huge debts)? I'd say the latter though reluctantly. That is why this option of outside investment giving what looks like a good combo appeals if it transpires.
-
The thing is for me, I'd expect to see £30m-40m spent this summer just on the back of ST/TV money - it was anything else then I'd put it down to "ambition injection". If we're not even going to spend that then next season is another write-off.

No such thing.

Compared to the Ronnie, the Standard is a major newspaper. Having lived in Cockneyland for many (many) years - I am aware that it is an even worse local than the Chronicle. A "major" newspaper - oh for goodness sake!!!! Didn't mean "good" - I meant widely read. (By more people who count in the context of his business)

neither can most employees elewhere,ie periods of notice (mine is 6months). i will willingly extend my period of notice by 3 years if they pay me £5000pw But you can still leave to who you want - as an aside 6 months notices should be illegal imo - its a disincentive to leave which I'd count as restrictive - I'd also argue that those 6 months would be impractical from a work efficiency pov. I know people sign legal contracts in the "real" world and in football but they have to be moral and practical in my view.
-
Now that's interesting - if he is unwilling to stump up mega-bucks for signings but otherwise we're quite happy with how things are being run then "partners" who do put money in could be the best of both worlds.
-
I don't really care who signs for us in that context but I agree with the rest. Football is caught between the "real" world where freedom to work anywhere is a given and the issues you outline - I still don't see how its legally or morally okay at a simple level.
-
"Slavery" fits in that the players (or their registrations) are owned by their employers so the player cannot just go and work for someone else as easily as "normal" workers - in that context slavery is "correct" but he he shouldn't have used it due to its past - perhaps "bonded" would have been better.
-
It's a strange situation as transfer fees and businesses "owning" employees is instinctively wrong to most people and I don't understand how it's legal. Perhaps that why the Spanish use this "buy-out" clause in a contract as an alternative phrasology. Of course if transfer fees were scrapped it would be even stupider as players like Ronaldo would demand 500k a week.

Because Intermedia never said that we approached them. Does the "approached by a third party" make it 100% false then? The third party could be Freddy Shepherd trying to buy the club back as far as we know. Just playing devil's advocate here but do you honestly not think an investment company would check out who they were dealing with before issuing a statement?

How does the Llambias statement negate that of Intermedia?
-
It was in the list of options on the back - boxes for one years ticket/3 year scheme + club membership etc.
-
No - if you're in the top 1500 and that's all the tickets we get then if you apply you'll still get one. If say 900 of the 1500 take up the offer that leaves 600 available every game at least - of course we get more than 1500 for most games.

Met him a when we played in Kiev last time - he interviewed my mate. I also know Gary Oliver who used to write for the Gazette then moved to the club as PR spokesman - used to play cricket with my mate.

Sky shite like easy easy and who are ya should be capital offences. I think some that have been mentioned are past their sell by - liverpool slums being a good example - I also think "you're support is fucking shit" in its place at the mancs in Cardiff was fantastically spot on but should have been left there. From other clubs I hate Wise men say and all the irish shite the scousers sing.
