  1. Spot on. The match going supporter are watching the players week in week out for 95 minutes, of course they are in a better place to judge. I think what got people's backs up was when certain folk suggested arm chair pundits have no right to comment on the players what so ever... Well that wasn't me, as I guarantee I've never made that suggestion. Course, that wouldn't stop the certain folk trying to 'spin' what I said though.
  2. My old avatar got banned at the demand of <10 year old. What was it? Who requested it be removed? Maddog. It said it was porn but denied it when I reckoned it was frightened of being caught on the forum at school, but it later admitted it. Check your PM for the avatar.

  4. I have to say, one of the first things I was attacked for on this forum was when I made the suggestion that a match going supporters was in a better position than an armchair supporter to make judgements on players. Reading this even I'm wondering why I was given ZERO support. Bear in mind that this is going back awhile, I wasn't as unpopular then as I am now for being right most of the time...... :winking:
  5. Impossible. I've made some posts in it.
  6. Wot aboot me? I'd never ban anybody. Even the Luque rent-boys.
  7. To be fair, and it's obviously random guesswork, but I reckon any other team in the Premiership could've bought one of those two, and they would've succeeded. I think there's more a problem of adapting into Chelsea's team, than the Premiership. Shaun Wright-Phillips (Premiership proven) being the case in point, and Parker, I guess. Good point. Parker doesn't fit at Newcastle and he didn't fit at Chelsea either. Solution: Sell him back to Charlton.
  8. Vicky, Try as much as you like but you'll never manage to compete against someone to whom it comes naturally.
  9. Aye, I'm expecting Arsenal, Manure and Chelsea to all make the fifth round following their home draws. There's a long way to go but I'd have liked those teams to get tough away ties.
  10. Didn't see the thread. Good draw. A home tie, all we can hope for if we win our replay.
  11. Can't see the problem with those prices.
  12. Only Owen and Martins are good enough quality as strikers. Dyer isn't a striker, he's a makeshift striker. Ameobi should be on the beach. Sibierski is decent but we need better. Imo we do need to spend decent money on one quality striker and will still need another striker after that.
  13. Why? His tactics are the worst of any manager in the league. It took him until 80mins today to make a sub despite being 3-0 down at half time to Blackburn reserves. His style of football is crap and he never has a plan B. He's got no ambition or nous and will never take us further than being a midtable team. Can't imagine why anybody gives a shit, tbh.
  14. Then why add to it, tbh. It needed to be said.
  15. Very shortsighted. Sure we probobly could have bought a cheaper striker but I don't think we could have bought a cheaper striker that is proven in the CL, is only 22 and still has his best days in front of him. Oba is not the complete player right now but in a few years he will be. He may not fire us into Europe on his own now but when wehave built up the rest of the squad in a few years I'm sure we will be very thankful we have signed him. As for Duff I have no doubts he will come good. Sure he has lacked form and been unlucky recently with injuries but when he does get back i'm sure he will give us a massive boost. i know martins is a fantastic talent but we needed defenders,we couldve spent those 10 million on buying one or two decent defenders, buying defender was our priorty and as much as i like Martins,i would've always had one or two defenders over him.. Duff was a good player, but lets face it he's been shite since day one here, but i am hoping he comes good but overall,15 million on a striker and a winger, that left us suffering because of our poor defenders, and now all the good solid defenders have moved, our only hope is that we can somehow snatch a good defender before the end of the january transfer window, and that looks unlikly tbh.. Shearer had retired, we were left with only Owen and Ameobi. Owen was injured and you're saying we needed defenders ahead of strikers. Incredible.
  16. We're never going to agree, mate. I just don't believe it's correct for Liverpool supporters to refuse to accept any blame for their part in the tragedy. Had they not turned up late and drunk and tried to force their way into the ground the tragedy would never have happened. The Police made mistakes and they are rightly blamed for that, but the supporters should accept some responsibility also. Their actions created the conditions for those bad decisions. My opinion and I've no axe to grind. Of course it's a tragedy for those who died, their relatives and also for everyone who witnessed it but couldn't do anything about it. They'll suffer trauma there's no doubt about it. Seeing someone die is something you never forget. I know that very well. Before you quote the Taylor Report again can you confirm that you accept without question the findings of EVERY report that is produced? How many times has a report been published but people are sceptical about the findings? It happens often, in my opinion. I note you ignore the fact that 2 major incidents involved supporters of Liverpool.
  17. No. Which is why its so frustrating to keep reading such nonsense. Read the Taylor Report and you'll find the cause of the crush outside wasn't fans trying to gain illegal entry, or rushing the gates (this was physically impossible as anyone who has seen the CCTV footage will testify), it was caused by a police failure to implement their usual safety policies. Due to the appallingly inadequate and peculiar entrance system to the Leppings Lane the police/stewards would apply a filtering system a couple of hundred yards up the road to prevent a build up of too many fans into too small an area. This didn't happen in 89 and as more and more fans arrived a gradual build up took place with the police doing nothing to prevent it, such that a massive crush started to form outside well before kick off. As more and more fans arrived by coach (there'd been a major accident on the motorway and police queued up many of the coaches to escort them all together as a group arriving late) the situation got worse. Eventually gate C was opened and the pressure as released down the slope which led directly onto the back of the already over-crowded central pens, with no direction away from this area by stewards/police. Those behind weren't aware of what was happening in front and the crush got worse eventually killing 96. 8 years previously a similar crush occurred at the Spurs-Wolves semi in the Leppings Lane end with fans having to be allowed onto the pitch (something the police didn't do 8 years later). After this the FA removed semis from Hillsborough for 6 seasons. Despite getting the ok to restage semi matches, the safety certificate hadn't been renewed and was years out of date, crush barriers had been removed in the intervening years making the central pens even more dangerous, some remaining barriers were rusted and corroded. The police office in charge on the day had never policed a match there but "signed off" the certificate for the game without reading up on the procedures. When things started to go wrong he didn't have a clue what to do. Sad fact remains that wehn the kick was stopped 6 minutes in, research for Taylor's report showed the lower tier was still well below capacity as the pens either side were sparsely populated. As I've been saying. They will never accept the responsibility for their part in it. And as I also said earlier, it's no coincidence that 2 massive and terrible incidents involved supporters of the same club.

Bit in bold italic. Tired of hearing it, tbh. It's no excuse for stopping for a quick tab before passing the ball and for spending half the game on his arse.
  19. Roeder is doing a decent job under very difficult circumstances. Loads of injuries as we all know, plus players being out of form almost from the start such as Duff, and a young player like Zog clearly showing the very, very common slump in their second season which happens to lots of young players. I even posted before the season began that I hoped people would not get on his back if he didn't do as well this time around. For the sake of good team balance we need either of these to be fit and playing well, unfortunately they haven't done it this season. Don't know whether he's the right man in the long term though. My problem with Roeder seems to be his lack of ability to make the tough decisions, for example acknowleding that Parker is pretty much a waste of space in a 4-4-2.

What's the problem with being asked to give a reason for rating him highly? The people who don't rate him so highly seem to be happy enough to provide reasons why they believe he's not as good as some make out.
