I can’t believe I’m watching updates of a pre-season friendly between Sheffield Wednesday and Lincoln in the hope that our 6th choice of manager turns us down. Only at the Toon
-
He’d just hire Pardew. He doesn’t give a shit what fans say.

If the 23k figure for season tickets is correct, and I've no reason to doubt it is, the crowd will be around 30k I would have thought. Can't see them selling more season tickets on the back of appointing Steve Bruce as Rafa Benitez replacement, if anything there'll be more cancellations than season tickets sold from here on in, then add on 3k Arsenal fans and a couple of thousand idiots buying on general sale they'll be lucky to hit 30k. That would be amazing but I'd be shocked if it's under 45k. People can't help themselves Aye. It depends on what happens in the next few weeks; - If Bruce is the manager, a few will want to give 'the local guy' a chance. - If they make a couple of decent signings then some will cave and go - If they drop the prices, or introduce a last minute child/concession offer for the Arsenal game (which is likely if sales are poor), then a few will go through general sale/on the turnstile - If Ashley does another public interview stating that he tried to sell but none of the buyers were serious and Mr Manager will now get every penny the club generates to build on Rafa's good work, then sadly there are some that will be bought in by it. If in three weeks' time, we still don't have a manager, a takeover or any signings, then with a concerted boycott push then there's no reason why the 30k and below mark is not achievable.

not if wednesday are pushing for £5m or more compo it fucking won't They’ll come to an agreement. It’s Bruce they want Transfer negotiations over the last 12 years say otherwise. They never pay more than they want to.
-
It’s not unusual for them to give permission to speak to NUFC subject to agreeing compensation
-
"Talks continue" NUFC: "We will give you £1m" SWFC: "No. We want £4m-£5m" NUFC: "...£1.1m?"
-
Like a new signing.
-
Still yet to agree compensation.

You’re right, like. Your average fan never saw the connection but without Sports Direct, there’d be no need for Ashley to have NUFC. However, you’d need to galvanise a nation to make a difference to SD and we can’t even get a percentage of a city to not go to one football match.
-
Why are we even discussing this as something possible? Moving a club? Really?
-
At least we've got tonight to say our goodbyes.
-
Seems a bit of a strange appointment for a new owner. Must have wanted someone with a local connection.
-
Why? Like shouting at the monkey when the organ grinder won’t listen.
-
Time for a bit of British has-been bingo. Who is going to be linked next? Dave Jones? Paul Jewell? Steve Wigley?
-
No chance. Call Alan Curbishley instead.
-
OMG. Should we do a sweepstake? Someone get a piece of paper and a pen. Date, year, time folks. Go.
-
Aye. Ashley bought it back.
-
3 minutes. Can’t wait.
-
It’s come from that Darren Carter idiot. Reckons NUFC will confirm tonight

What did it say?

We've been relegated twice now and neither have led to sales of the club, there's nothing to suggest this would be any different. Ashley has an over inflated value of the club and relegation would make it even harder to sell as he'd likely not knock much more off his asking price. Who is going to pay upwards of £200m for a club in the Championship?
-
I don’t believe that this takeover will happen but I’m not hasten to believe The Chronicle here. Even if they believe what they are being told in good faith, i’d guess their ‘sources’ come from the club and I don’t believe anything that comes from Ashley’s lying PR machine.
