  1. I was involved in a trial of this technology at Middlesbrough- it's nearly there in terms of development

When was this, out of curiosity?

I remember seeing loads of reports and footage when they first started pushing for it. There was even a video displaying all sorts of shots, ball positions etc... this was years ago already and it didn't get anything wrong.

  2. On today's incident they shouldn't need any help. At full speed it was clear it went in. The ref could have seen even though it's not completely his job. The linesman didn't have the keeper blocking his view of the ball... It's just utterly scandalous he didn't see it.

At almost any level you should have your sense tingling that something has happened there and that it must be in. Linesman is a joke. Double whammy for FIFA too. They put in under par officiators and also don't agree to help them with easy to implement technology.

  3. Hawk eye, with beeps when the ball goes over. Has been proven to work, easy as fuck to implement and the only true way to involve technology in a completely non-intrusive way.

Thing would just beep for the ref when the ball is in: instant goal and one less thing for linesmen to worry about.

Of course FIFA's high ethics of FAIR PLAY see this as totally ridiculous. Retards.

  4. Well fuck me. Had got more excited about this tournament than any in probably a decade. Wasn't even expecting much from this supposed 'golden generation'. All I wanted was a couple of moments to shout about and some performance to be proud of.

As usual, like Newcastle, wherever you set your bar, they will come somewhere below it.

  5. Germany trying to kill 2 birds with one stone. Goal crossing the line not given and beating us 5-1?

Yes they've been more clinical but the BBC commentators were saying this is normal overall. To not acknowledge the last two goals were almost direct repercussions of the equaliser not being given is pretty moronic. Not doubt we'd have played 2 at the back and Terry up front at 2-2 as well!

  6. Totally scandalous. At full speed you could tell it was in. Most people who have played football would have had a clear tingling sense that had gone in let alone a professional trained ref/linesman.

There are no words. If we lose this we will have to be content in being martyrs in the case for goal line technology. And of course that linesman will be forced to retire soon enough.

  7. Still, you've got to be a bit sceptical about a player who never received a fucking card in his entire career.

Was thinking about that the other day... now that you can get booked or sent off for just running in a straight line there will never be a player that will manage that again.

  8. Surprising that would be in the rule book. Just common sense the ref should be able to play advantage through and take appropriate action (whatever it is, be it telling off, yellow, red etc...) once play stops.

Otherwise it's worth punching another player in the face near the half way circle when the other team go one on one with the keeper. Ref can only either give a red or play advantage and not both! You either save a goal or only get booked

  9. Nice Blackburn one that. Hopefully they'll have red numbers on it.

Sunderland one is okay. Decent design but ruined by the colour scheme which is pretty pointless for them and of course... that sponsor.
