why does that matter? he said he has played over 500 games which he has. Doesn't. Was just curious so checked it out. Turns out he's played 418 club games + 89 England caps.

The same Owen who let us down in 2000, 2002, 2004 and to a lesser extent in 2006 could help us win the world cup? He wont even be there, and rightfully so.
Again, no way would I consider Owen to have let England down at E2000 and WC2002.
I see it more as 3 goals in 8 games whilst playing well and being a threat. And then 1 goals in 7 whilst being pretty much useless.

2000 we were a a very poor team, he played well. 2002 He won the pen against the Argies, played well and took the chances clinically vs Denmark and Brazil.
I wouldn't say his performances in those tournaments "let England down badly" at all.

He was a very decent threat in 2000 and 2002. Was ridiculously crap in '04 only managed that one goal that was handed on a plate to him.

The man just instilled a passion and a love of Newcastle United in every person who heard him speak of the club. I was all but ready to give up on football before he came back and destroyed the apathy.

ACtually was the same pre 2002. They always had ridiculous non stop trumpety things in games over there too. Once the WC came round there's was non of that crap.

If the club is to move forward, we need someone with backbone who will get the club by the scruff of the neck. Not yellow bellies who will jog off the first time they have doubts that they wont get everything how they want it.
I used to love Keegan and I doubt very much whether I'll ever see a NUFC side as good as his. Having said that, he's shat on us twice now (buy my book, that will tell you why i left!) and i've lost a lot of respect for him. Thanks Kev for the good times but it's time for everyone to simply move on. He's history.
