  1. So if you skin the keeper and then square it to a team mate you will be offside unless there are two defenders behind the ball ? Thats stupid.

    What?

If the teammate is ahead of the ball when played, yeah.

I guess technically if you square it to a teammate, then no, but if you play it forward to a teammate, then yes.

Doesn't matter what "way" you play it. What matters is the recipient's position when played. You could pass it backwards and the guy could be offside.

  2. I can see why folk are confused: how many times have we seen an attacker stay deliberately off the pitch in order to avoid being offside? I suppose that is an 'interfering with play' issue.

that's different though, an attacker can not be involved, but a defender can be covering if he's right at the opposite touchline.

Edit: yes, as Aphro put it.

I know that, you plank, I was just saying it's understandable how people could get confused.

It was therefore important to point out the differences for those who were confused

  4. don´t know. but in sweden telly they talk about that the goal is correct due to the italian that are laying behind the goal. Good game.

Doesn't count when he's off the field of play, surely?

That should be BS though, he's clearly still involved. Even though he's just behind the goal line, the goal should be able to stand (which it has, and hopefully for the right reason).
