A good friend of mine is a Spurs fan and he shares my admiration for big Al... which tells me all I need to know about KD. All Spurs fans are not idiots, in spite of the population sample we have on here.

Exactly I think in KingDawson's mind "Prime Shearer" is the same player and the 35 year old one.
-
Between 93 and 97 Alan Shearer scored 121 goals in 148 Premiership games, why would anyone in their right mind rather have Berbatov over someone with goalscoring ability like that?!
How old are you Kingdawson?
Planning to resort to your usual tactics of attacking me on a personnel level are we now Baggio??
It's a pretty valid question, because you are either mentally challenged, or are a childish wum (or both).
-
Most neutrals would not agree to that
Most numpties however do seem to overlook Shearer's overall play, ability to pass the ball and footballing brain just because he was a strong and consistent goal scorer.
-
Cant really understand how people can honestly say that Shearer was ever a better player then Berbatov. Better Striker? Yes, Better goalscorer? Yes, but no way was he ever a better player then Berbatov.
Fucking hell. Were you living under a rock between 93 and 97?
Shearer and Ferdinand in and around their prime were easily better than the Berb in pretty much all departments.

You'd do better just naming three men for us. That fourth name just devaluates our lineup completely.

Funny to think that the only current toon player is the one in blue while the other two now hate each other. Good photo.
Agreed
Agreed? I disagree, the player in blue is not currently a toon player, and Shearer and Bellamy love each other.
-
Isnt it unlikely both the 2nd and 3rd kit would be a similar shade of blue?
You'd think so wouldnt you
-
was gonna say thats clearly the training top in the background of the video
hummmm... which one would that be then?

And we have a new winner of the Most Pointless Away Kit award:

Lyon won't be champs I don't think, they've had their time and the group is falling to bits.

One thing Souness did get right was to throw him out into the deep end.
I remember in the days of 2003 to 2005 and we had either Bramble or O'Brien taking it in turns to mess up. Sir Bobby played Taylor once in that away game at Bolton and a "mistake" from Steve lead to the winner and that was that, and he hardly got a look in afterwards.
The idea was that we might as well be putting a 18year old who might be making the same mistakes you'll get from an Andy O'Brien, but at least there's a good chance he'll learn a lot from them.
Going to be a big big season for Taylor. Think he'll just grow even more.
-
Just remembered, it gets worse - Argentina France 98, we did the same thing, although being a man down changed things but they were brittle at the back and had we kept possession better and used the pace of Owen better and the strengths of Shearer instead of shouting them back like Pearce did all game tonight...
Traumatic night that was

Plus fact is also, when Souness did get the sack Shearer was one of the first to act professionaly and move on. Not speaking about it in the media just about what needed to be done. Same goes when Roeder got the job, and when Allardyce was appointed.
Yep, I'm obsessed. Regarding Souness, read the whole thing.I did, and?
-
Move on Alan, whatever you think of Bellendamy.
I'll have to guess from smilies what you mean, but will respond in words.
Alan Shearer no longer plays for Newcastle United, he is entitled to opinions, obviously, even though he supported Souness until the end.
Feel free to respond with rolling eyes.
Where does it show in any way he is not "over it"? Bellamy is being linked to the club and with the history between the two he is going to be asked about. Not like he is hounding the press to talk about Bellamy.
And regarding Souness what was he supposed to do? He played his role as club captain that is all.
But any excuse to have a go for some people I guess. Rolling eyes in full swing.
-
Wow... well thank god he is okay. This is a good sign though that maybe our club is not going to like a soap opera anymore...

I'm surprised they missed this part of the Bellamy quote out. Best part!
"But when I read Bellamy for Newcastle, I thought I would definitely have to have another drink, so I had several. I'm the worst dancer you have ever seen. I have two or three left feet. I had heard Bellamy might be coming so I thought I had to get drunk and throw some shapes. At least I was trying to throw some shapes.
Al....are you feeling OK?
Indeed... was he drunk during this interview?

"I put one of my houses up for sale for £750,000 and he came to look at it and it went up to £6m when I found out it was him."
Thats a classic.
Sounds like stand-up material tbh!
-
^ haha nice ones Nut
This retired Shearer seems a lot more fun!
-
Not really, no.
-
I've started to tolerate it now. Still won't be getting it though.
Although that might also change once the new season kicks off. Even though I'm starting to accept the new shirt, everytime I see it coupled with those new shorts it puts me right off again.
-
They know how to f*cking celebrate that's for sure.
Aye, was pretty hilarious. 10 seconds after the final whistle, it's as if every single person in the stadium was in on a well rehearsed choreography!
