for those wanting technologoy brought in for these sort of occasions....NO! are we going to question every tackle, every nudge, every hold that could be a foul, not to mentipon off the ball stuff, as they could all change the game. no one would have gave a toss had gallas been 10yds back and terry henry cross had went aimlessly across the box. imagine every game being dragged back 10secs later for some minor infringment.....each corner would take an hour as the bloke with the video worked out which foul came first from all the camera angles. refs make mistakes, even in the nfl mistrakes are made and that takes nigh on 4hrs to complete a 60minute game.........fuck that.

i might have remembered correctly. apparently according to wiki St James's park tube station was for years St James' park on the tube maps "Illustrating changing practice in punctuation, tube maps up to the early 1930s show the name as "St. James' Park". From Harry Beck's first map in 1933 until the early 1950s the name was shown as "St. James Park". Since the 1950s it has had the current name.

Should Celtic & Rangers be allowed to join the Premiership?
madras replied to LoveItIfWeBeatU's topic in Football
Ignorance? It's an ENGLISH league. Should we let Real Madrid into the Premiership too? What happens if Cardiff come up this season? Then it's an English and WELSH league. Anyway, I was talking about the childish name calling of Scottish people and the assumption that all Rangers and Celtic fans are bigots. Some are, but some are not. i'd say theres a higher percentage of bigots at either of those clubs than ANY english club. Millwall? not even mi'wa' For f***s sake, you don't even live in Scotland. How can you say that? i've spent a bit time in scotland and work with a good few. A good few what? You sound like one of those people who denies they are homophobic by saying "I have gay friends". every saturday and sunday afternoon when i'm at work, if i have a break during match times i share it with folk from glasgow and edinburgh. the ones from glasgow are very bigoted religously and towards the english...........................and they are sooo easily wound up. Tell you what mate. I will get you a bigger brush, it will make it easier to tar everyone with it. did i say everyone there was a bigot. no. i said that in my experience there are more attached to those clubs than any other that i know of even as a percentage.....clear enough ? The all I can say is you need to change who you are hanging around with. There are people who follow Newcastle who are total c***s (sorry Cath) but it doesn't make every Newcastle fan a c*** (sorry again Cath). i don't hang around with them we just share the same tele room at work and it's different people every week. and no denying nufc has it's fair share of pricks calling themselves fans. Shall I cancel that order on the big brush for you then? i'm a bloke. wouldn't have a clue how to use it dear. bend over and I will insert it into the holder for you. brush first as opposed to shank eh ? -

Well to be fair it is mis-punctuated. i had it explained to me once as a youngster why it is the way it is but i'll be buggered by a randy hippo if i can remember why. It's simple; it's like that because it's wrong. i'm sure it's something to do with punctuational changes over time. as in that was correct piunctuation once upon a time.

one of the things that has surprised me in all this debate is that when talking to people they can't even pronounce it correctly and in a lot of cases write it as St Jamses park.

as is barton, butt even tries to get beyond the half way line for him
-
i really disagree and geremi often plays ok but looks so untidy he doesn't get away with it when he does poor stuff.
-
being honest apart from3 or 4 games under keegan do you think barton has performed better then butt in his time here ? edit--i'd even go so far as to say bartons last couple of performances for us have been the worst i've seen in over 30yrs from a newcastle midfielder (that includes graham oates, peter cartwright, scott sloan, fumaca, archie gourlay, gary megson, nicky butt, gary nicholson, neil simpson etc)
-
damn. i just realised you can't actually go down any further in my estimations. That's a shame, I think the world of you. only joshing and knew you'd accept it as such. can't believe you've have barton before anyone though as captain based on behaviour as much as performnces.

normally if 8 people do something you don't call one person for it. to be honest i've seen a few occasions when players on the same side have a go at each, normally just pushing and shoving. very rarely does more than one person intervene. i guess in every occasion it proves the rest are half arsed. a lot of butt's performances could easily be used in evidence. however this example is the crappiest attempt at scapegoating for a while. well done.

wrong. you only single someone out if they are the single one. he wasn't. shearer as pointed out, as captain should be the one singled out if anyone. Er, no... We're talking about Nicky Butt, so we're analysing Butt's reaction - not everyone else's. I'm not talking about the team as a collective on that day - i'm talking about Butt, just Butt. Maybe everyone else was s*** too but i'm not on about them. His reaction, btw, was total s*** and thoroughly backs up the claim that he is a pretty half-arsed footballer when it comes down to it. That's what we're arguing here. The Villa match is exhibit A. Anyhow. You can't seem to make up your mind whether or not we're allowed to single players out over this incident, but essentially - by this: "we should be singling out Shearer if anyone"... you're saying that Shearer is the only one who had any right to react whilst everyone should have laid on the floor and sucked their thumbs. Which is ridiculous.* T'end of 'day... two teammates were fighting on the pitch. Butt did nowt. That's a fair thing bit of evidence to suggest he couldn't care less at times. That Alkmaar home match springs to mind too, btw - when Koevermans (i think it was) took the penalty that was saved and finished on the rebound... Butt was stood on the D with his hands on his hips watching it all unfold. If he'd charged in for the rebound, we might have saved the goal that ultimately knocked us out of the competition that year. By the way - Kieron Dyer was stood next to him on that D during that same incident, and he had an identical reaction. But, just for the record, this conversation is about Butt so i'm singling him out. *By the by, in an unrelated matter - Kieron Dyer came out in the ensuing days following that incident, saying it was Shearer who ripped the s*** out of them in the dressing room and demanded they come out and make a public apology - which they did so immediately after the game. Not that it's relevant. quite pathetic. suppose i shouldn't have expected any better. shearer got singled out as he was the captain. in this sort of situation i don't see it as unreasonable to question what he was doing.
