  1. Ignorance? It's an ENGLISH league. Should we let Real Madrid into the Premiership too? What happens if Cardiff come up this season? Then it's an English and WELSH league. Anyway, I was talking about the childish name calling of Scottish people and the assumption that all Rangers and Celtic fans are bigots. Some are, but some are not. i'd say theres a higher percentage of bigots at either of those clubs than ANY english club.
  2. i'm sure they wrote a ballad about that.
  3. no and if thy were allowed into the english league system they should go through the proper channels ie have to play through the pyramid. i'd also like to know the legalities of dumping them straight into the prem or championships as regards to legal challenges from clubs below them.

  6. i've got a sperm i've high hopes for but i'm looking for a fresh supply of eggs as the most recent supplier has been turning out females.
  7. in the 70s a match would be abandoned if the players hadn't chased a dog round the pitch at least once. Remember seeing Peter Withe showing some particularly sharp dog catching skills at one match. i was there. that dog changed the game. 2-1 down at home to either charlton or QPR (either way they wore all red) and struggling. we get a free kick 35yrds or so out. dog, some sort of collie by the looks of it enters the fray. withe ends up tackling the dog then while the defence is confused runs round the back of it to score a header from the free kick and we went on to win 4-2.
  8. on having a quick look through it still seems a little vague on when/why the partners come in to it ?
  9. as nufc physio that is. good interview with him wednesdays bbc radio newcastle's "total sport" available online. yes some playeres have milked injuries (but didn't name names) marcelinho's finger was a legit injury paul ferris is now a barrister.
  10. Maybe this has already been answered and I apologise if it has. According to the NUST site "The Trust will be revealing partners over the coming days, and has in place a buy out structure led by local firms and renowned names in the financial world", what level of finance and/or influence is NUST hoping/needing to achieve to keep these partners involved ?
  11. that has very unfortunate conotataions though. Czar is very 'in' right now mind.
  12. your manager comes to you and say "if we can squeeze an extra half a million out and extra 10grand a week wages we can get this player who could seal us promotion" you can't keep out of it man.
  13. the answer has to be........."the best we consider available at the time"
  14. I'd just not give them a new contract / offer them a crap contract / offer them to other clubs. If they didn't accept then fine, but they'll be out the door when their contract is out if no-one would take me them off my hands before then. you may well still be paying them hugh wages for 3 or 4 years then . is it all high earners or just those that you think are under performing or do you get rid of them all even if it is to the detriment of the teasm ? isn't it more just a case of recognising the need to cut wages. What? I already said I'd offer them a crappier contract.. I'd implement a wage structure, and there'd be no exceptions to the rule. And yes, I'm aware people may still be hanging around for 3/4 years if I couldn't shift 'em. it's all easier said than done. can you imagine the negotiations with a posiible transfer to take 30thou when people at the club are still on 50thou. how tough would you be to the detriment of the team ?. it's a tricky thing to try and improve the team, stick to a wage structure, and compete in the market. a lot trickier than some seem to think.
  15. you're the president, not the owner. you'd get arrested as the club isn't yours to sell.

  17. for those saying get rid of the high earners..........how do you propose to do this ?
  18. go through the books. hire a hot looking dirty slut as my PA. hire an experienced chief exec to oversee a root and branch review of the club particularly focusing on scouting and youth.
  19. Any alternative bid that was made would be a rival bid of course it would. However how that was perceived and dealt with would depend on the bid. If for instance Moat reappeared then, as far as Im concerned I cant see how that would change our plans as we know our model is better for the club. if however some massive businessman came in and said "Ill buy the club and give the supporters 50% for free" then obviously that would need to be viewed differently. It would still need to be assessed to see exactly what was involved. How? I don't want to put words into Peasepud's mouth, but reading between his lines upthread he seems to be implying that Moat's plan would have meant that the cost of purchasing the club would be met out of the club's future income. The club would basically be acquiring more debt as the result of the change of ownership. Wouldn't surprise me if that was the case. Does that make it worse for the club by default? I'm certainly not in a position to say anyone is wrong, but I don't know how anyone can know which is better for the club without having complete knowledge of what the other parties are planning and willing to do. and thats something we'll never know even after any takeover has happened.
  20. I can see cp40's mind glowing from here. 'THE POWER... THE POWER!' I would be more a sleeping partner. talk about a put off.
  21. and yet howey, beresford and v enison all went on to get endgland call ups. surely the issue is that keegan got them to play as a unit of 11, defensivly and attacking.

i honestly think we'll see more clubs doing it.
  23. well intentioned though it is i just can't see them getting 80million then enough goodwill off the banks to cater for an overdraft.
  24. when the building work for the upper tier of the leazes was on going, most of the terrace was in but no seast or roof. some keds had got in to it and you could see them through the gangways being chased along by some coppers. we'd all be cheering as they'd run from one gangway then we'd quickly look to the next gangway to watch them run by followed a coiuple of seconds later by the cops all the way to the end.....then they came back again the other way. don't think the coppers ever caught them. watching snow slide off the roof onto peoples heads and everyone else giving it loud cheers. home to liverpool 3-0 cole hat trick i beleive. a tannoy announcement at SJP for Mr something to contact the police as his cows were wandering down claremont road.
