Thought this was well known. A school friend’s dad was a Referee (mainly Championship but did ref a few PL games) and they were told in no uncertain terms not to send off big player names (Rooney, Gerrard etc etc). Because as if some of those players were banned it would affect the PL ‘brand’ and it’s pull to audiences in the Far East etc if the players they wanted to watch were unavailable for selection. So sometimes when you watch a game and you think the referee is biased towards a big club? It’s because that’s literally what they’re told to do. The whole thing is corrupt man. I posted very similar a while back. Heard it from two separate sources from opposite ends of the country and differing scenarios. Within days of hearing it the second time I watched Wayne Rooney over run the ball at Swansea and with the ball about 6ft out of reach he lashed out a kick at the Swnasea player. He was given a yellow, the one thing he couldn't get, it had to be red or the ref claims he didn't see it. Then I remembered what I'd been told earlier.

Aye as anyone at Stoke away in league cup 96 will confirm, Wednesday night we took 6500 down absolute hell on all night. Took a snide blow on way into ground and had to use the gear lock to fend off some big baldy cnut after the match. Can laugh about it now but in all my years home and away never seen anything like it, running battles all over after match. I was hospitalised that night. (Nowt to do with the match, suspected blood clot on the lung, symptoms actually caused by screaming for a penalty or something at SJP the previous weekend)

I don't mind the city. I just remember being down there for a friendly around 10(?... Fraser Foster howler) year ago, stayed after the game, missed our train home as we met a few 'decent' fans and had drinks, ended up getting set about by the same cunts as the night went on and more of them appeared. Understand we all have this type of fan, but it left a bitter taste, therefore, cunts the lot of them Before that I didnt give a shit about them. That was a regular thing in Leeds . Don't know if it still holds but in the 80s/90s/00s they had an above average number of compmete knacker fans and a particular dislike for us that even spread away from the football. Also we have a depot there and nowt to do with football, they are known throughout the country in our trade as being arseholes. We once stopped in Leeds for a night out after an away hammering at Man U in the 80s and the same thing happened, opposite the train station. Ended up with an image of a coin embedded on the side of my nose from some twats ring. Fucking arseholes the lot of them. We had it on a 21st, a stag doo and just a night out with a mate who was at uni there. As soon as they heard our accents you could feel the atmosphere change.. Liverpool it was just around the football, other nights were fine, but Leeds, horrid, long time ago now mind, could be different. Hope so as the city itself was ok with the best Indian deli/Lunch/Snack place ever. We had a bad one at Liverpool as well actually, we were in a bar right at the ground (arkles I think) before the game, absolutely sound, knocked us back after the game and sent us along the road to the flat iron, kind of bar that still has sawdust on the floor and the piano stops when you walk in long story short we ended up standing outside surrounded by about 20 young'ns launching bottles etc... Wasnt just us, there was a few toon fans directed to that bar. Liverpool has always been one of my most hated, and again I understand we all have prick fans, but that rubberstamped my hatred for them. Had similar in Liverpool, licked our arses till they had us massively outnumbered then it kicks off, both sides of Liverpool Red and Blue. I think Brummie said he'd had similar there and I've heard it round the country. Its just on Football days though, other nights there had been fine. Not Leeds though. As I say it was a while so hopefully not like that now.

It wouldnt explain why it hasn't already been rejected. It would explain why it hasnt yet been passed . At least if they knock it back after so much time the PL can say they gave it their best shot . Elsewhere in football people connected with Qatar are being accused and in some cases convicted of corruption . Think on But they (Qatar)are not now applying to buy a club. Just seems to me like theres been a list of hoops PIF are having to jump through re piracy and possible directors and that takes time.
-
Not really new. Whod have thought if the PL don't get the answers etc they want then they won't forward the go ahead. Wasnt the position at the start ?

well yes £500m the single largest rights deal outside the uk. Of coarse they don't want to annoy one of their biggest tv partners thats really not a good way to do business Doesnt mayter the size of the deal if they think turning them over could lead to a bigger deal.
-
They'll have to get it legally watertight to accept or reject the deal. I'd imagine they are shitting themselves realising their test wasn't fit for purpose and was really just for show.
