  1. £35 million is a huge sum. If spent wisely (if spent at all!) it could do what the Berba transfer did for Spurs.
  2. We cancel press conferences when we're about or have just done something stupid.
  3. Jim White: David Craig, is there anything going on up in the North East? David Craig: I can confirm that I bought a a burger, a can of coke, and a packet of cheese and onion crisps from that van over there for a combined fee of £7.35. The paper work did go through in time and these munchies are mine. 20 minutes later: "I'm trying to get hold of someone at the club to confirm rumours that the burger I ate earlier was tainted and I have contracted CJD."
  4. Yeap, I know what your on about. Neesy and I - ITK
  5. Woodgate wont come back up to the North East for reasons that are extremely libellous.
  6. Backing that scrote N'Zogbia over Faye when they had a falling out and moving the big fella on was bad. He's a very stable centre back who I'd love to have alongside Coloccini. JDT is the main one. He was never a target man but played their while Shearer recovered, lost form and we flogged him without giving him a real chance to play where he was best suited. He was immense the preseason we signed him too.
  7. I'd do a jig of delight if the long faced cunt choked and died live on air while Brian Swanson cried "David! Daaaaaaviiiiiiiiiiid!!!" in his plummy scotch accent. We could sell half the squad and I'd still spend the evening spinning on my cock with a massive grin across my face.
  8. I'm glad I'm at work. I'm going to avoid this place too as I'll not be able to take the near suicidal ramblings of some as they fall for Jim White's shouty bollocks.
  9. Media know fuck all tbf. I love alot of the breaking news on skysports. "Newcastle sign Woody Woodpecker, we just read it on their offcial website, we like many fans have PC's with an internet browser and an F5 key" This. The four journos on the Sunday Supplement all had differing opinions on Spurs interest in Carroll, ranging from not at all to seriously interest, all from "reliable sources". They know nothing. Carroll wont leave. The club can't get a replacement of any type in this late in the window and there's no pressure to accept any bid (if there is one) from the lad himself. Expect 11pm to come and go tomorrow with a lot of pressmen red faced and a lot of the gnashing and wailing on here looking rather daft.
  10. I'd say £10/£15 is too cheap. The charge per game would have to be the price of the cheapest match day ticket. It's all moot anyway as Sky would never allow it to happen. They'd LOVE it to happen! Never heard of sky.com? Loads of people would fuck their £50/month Sky package off though, so they'd be down. I don't get how sky having even more matches and therefore an even bigger grip over the game ends up with them losing money? I just mean that in general people get skanked by Sky because the sports package makes up about 80% of the sub cost. They make you take a load of shit you might not want to get the football. Overall you're probably right, but I can imagine a lot of people would get rid of Sky altogether if they could just follow their own team every game for a third of the price. If I could watch our games on the web for a decent fee I'd sack of Sky, no problem. It's a huge expense nowadays and I only have it for sport. It wont happen because Sky would have to pay the FA and Premier League quite a large fee to make up for the fact it would have a horrific impact on attendances. The clubs and the league would not agree unless they were satisfied they were going to have their loses covered and when you consider how much Sky already pays for the rights to show 60+ live games over the course of the season you'll quickly realise why it's unworkable. You'd also begin to get clubs asking for bigger cuts depending on the number of subscribers they bring in, which would be a lurch towards allowing clubs to negotiate their own TV rights. Not somewhere we want to go.
  11. I think the point was someone suggested £23m as an insult and tbh I have to agree. I know it's a staggering amount, especially given the short time he has been playing as well as he has but given various factors I think we could push for a lot more. £23 million is an insult because of the timing more than anything. 72 hours before the end of the transfer window I'd want that and Defoe as a starting point. If time was no obstacle and I had faith in the club to reinvest it in players of quality then I'd be very tempted to accept a bid around that region. It's not though and I don't so they can piss off.
  12. Losing to Chelsea in the FA Cup semifinal when both of their goals were dubious as fuck. Outplayed them on every area of the pitch, they get two poxy chances and take them to sail through to the final and beat a piss weak Aston Villa side. Fucking fuming.
  13. Has anyone stopped to ask what the fucking point of this discussion is? Carroll has had a good six months but it may turn out to be the best six months of his career in terms of goals to games. Similarly Suarez could struggle to adapt to the Premier League as many others have before him. Does who is better matter? No.

  15. Can't agree there. It will be a great transfer window if we kept hold of Carroll, Barton, Tiote, Enrique etc. and manage to bring in HBA & Ireland. Prices are so inflated and players are so reluctant to move in January that you'll struggle to make wholesale changes. Populist bollocks. There has been loads of decent signings this Jan. Really? Maybe not in the Premiership but if you cast your net a bit wider yes. Rakitic, the 2 defenders from espanyol, Andrea Barzagli, Pazzini, Buenonotte, & Gary Medel have all moved for below what is probably their true value off the top of my head. We play in the Premier League, so your point is moot. Only Bent has moved for big money so far and that's fairly unprecedented for this time of year. But we are allowed to buy players from outside of it. Hell, even HBA was a potentially a steal at what we paid. You need to be creative in the January window. Just because clubs should be creative doesn't mean they actually are though. The reality of the situation is that Premier League clubs don't experience major movement in January. With only one month to do a deal it's a sellers market - you either pay what is demanded or you go elsewhere. The only clubs who do spend big in January are the teams who need to (Villa buying Bent, for example) or the teams who have more money than sense. My point is that bringing in two, possibly three players with no outgoings would be a very good January for us. Bontempi said we've done poorly and I disagreed in the strongest possible terms. There are a number of positions I would like to see us improve but anyone who expected us to go into January and buy a right back, a left back, a centre back, a right winger, a play maker and a couple of strikers is clearly touched. I totally agree with the second point. Not losing anyone key was key although I'd not have let Routledge go. The only way we'd have bought would've been a Larsson esque buy (taking advantage of a contract situation) & like that type of transfer I was just saying there are bargains to be had but not necessarily on a wholesale manner. Hopefully we'll see at least 3 or 4 of the positions mentioned come in the summer. Oh aye, we definitely need competition for Simpson, back up for Enrique, a right winger that would make Thatcher jealous and a partner for Carroll. I'm happy to wait until the summer though.
  16. That cannot be serious So Dennis Wise posts over there then?

  21. Gordon's head is too small for his shoulders.
  22. Barton - Tiote - Nolan - Ben Arfa Ireland Carroll ? That's where I'd play him too. His best form for City came when he was in a free role behind the striker.
