This is a bit of a myth, Sociedad did nothing to create for him that year, he had to do everything himself.

I don’t feel letting him go sets a precedent, the level of players that would actually do this is incredibly low. I think the rest of the team are way to professional and probably don’t even want him back anyway.

If he refuses to play we probably lose millions in prize money, potential sponsorships and extra ticket sales from progression in cups.
