I don’t think Germany even played poorly, their xG was over 3 and they absolutely dominated the first 70 minutes. Players must have switched off after the domination thinking it’s over. Then Japan raised their press and Germany couldn’t up their tempo anymore. Look dangerous going forward but that back line looks vulnerable. Manager also seemed to have no answer to Japan changing their formation and raising the tempo.

He really hasn't, one of the few players who really tries to stay on his feet and has been kicked a lot during his career due to that.

The current system doesn't need any lines and automatically tracks every player on the pitch regardless of the camera angle.

Burn at LB allows Trippier to have pretty much a free role when we are in possession. Having Willock and Joelinton at left when we attack doesn't really need a roaring LB even if Burn does get forward at times.

I’m very happy that that the rule is stricter now, games shouldn’t be decided by who manages to hit oppositions arm in the box (like the Liverpool-Spurs CL final). Just need to be consistent with it.
