  1. Christ, you'd think it was Messi.

Compared to the shower of s*** constantly being played before him he's Messi, Pele, Eusabio and Beardsley all wrapped up in one player.

He didn't look like that in the last few games he played somehow. Becoming the the most overrated player of all time on here.

Ridiculous. Have you noticed the list of players that's been picked ahead of him this year?

  2. I'm gonna stop talking about the negative things (our play) and start talking about how good some of the spurs players actually are.

We may be in the top 6, but we can only dream of attracting some players like Modric and Adebayor.

    Modric maybe, Adebayor no.

He's tearing us a new one, like him or not. Aren't you watching?

I am watching, just don't think he's a level up from Ba (and possibly Cisse, too early to call).

He's been poor for about 7 or 8 games, but before that he was easily one of the best strikers in the league.

    And Ba wasn't?

  3. they'll win now and at the end of the season when you fifnish 1 point below them you're gonna ask yourself "hmmm so why exactly was i angry Arsenal were losing that game?)

It's not like we are playing or having any effect on the result. I wouldn't cry.

  4. 'Even a lion chasing after its prey on the savannah needs to show economy of movement and lucidity of mind to snare its catch, and Cisse demonstrates that in his running.'

Never in million years saw this comparison coming.

  5. Pardew talks about letting our hair down but the proof will be in the team sheet. I like the fact he's willing to go 4-4-2 against big teams and I think he'll do the same again, but I fully expect Obertan will start in place of Ben Arfa on the right wing due to his extra workrate.

Obertan will do more running than Ben Arfa but I'd argue he loses as many balls through sloppy play. Ben Arfa is a much bigger goal threat and I'd say that outweighs Obertan's defensive contributions. We have to be wary of Spurs but we also need a threat to scare them. If you were a Spurs fan, who would you rather see start against you?

I also think Spurs are the kind of team who will attack and leave opportunities for the counter, and in that kind of game I'd want Ben Arfa in the side. Give him the ball with space to run into and he'll cause problems and with two forwards who know how to find space, it might be our best way to get at them.

Good post. Main point to me is that Obertan isn't defensively any better than HBA even though he tackled once in last game.

  6. Get the f*** in. Capello has been nothing but an embarrassment.

Eh, do you support the English team?

    Yeah.

This always puzzles me. I know many in Finland who support England. I kinda understand it here as we've never been in World Cup/Euro, but you Swedes have always been competitive.

Father is from England (Newcastle), didn't really give me a choice.

I didn't post it directly to you, just in general.  :)

Edit. Reading my post again, it seems I directed it to you.

  8. He is out of the team because he kept losing the ball in areas most weak to counter attack and our defence struggles against pace through the centre. Pardew said pre Villa he was going to have to deal with the counter attacks. That was his solution.

Ben Arfa has nowhere near the greatest ability at the club. He is behind Coloccini, Krul and Ba, while numerous other players are playing better and i would rather build the team around them than him.

You can't really build a team around goalkeeper or CB, huh?

  9. Needs new contract ASAP. Would be amazing to have 3 competent CM's and not needing to be shit scared of one injury/suspension in CM position. IMO he's one of the biggest surprises in the whole league this year and now would be great time to tie a new contract as he has been playing regularly for a long time.

  10. Obertan really isn't defending more than HBA as some seem to suggest ie. Obertan is RM, HBA is not. HBA has worked harder in the few games he has played lately. Obertan has been the passenger in our team this season and that's why it's mad how much Pardew gives him chances.

I would move Jonas to right as he hasn't really clicked offensively with Santon yet and Simpson needs more help. That would also IMO help Jonas' end product as his right is clearly much better than he's left. His left foot crosses are mainly floaters as he needs to put so much effort in only getting the ball in the air.

Move HBA to LM where he loses the ball more on the sideline rather than in the middle after cutting in and it wouldn't be as dangerous. And I don't think he loses the ball too much, but Pardew clearly thinks so.

  11. I don't see why we'd endeavour to sell Best. Fair enough if we get a daft offer, like, but otherwise it seems silly.

What did we pay for him? £2m? I'd rather keep him but wouldn't be aggrieved if we got our money back on him this summer.

IMO Best is the best we can hope for from 3rd/4th-choice striker right now. Ideally buy someone young on summer and keep Best and Shola as back-up, as everybody knows Shola isn't going anywhere.

  12. Blackburn really are in deep s*** btw. The amount of chances they had tonight (30+ was it?) and the way they essentially wasted them all........worrying times for them, Yakubu being back will be a big plus for them.

usually they're not bad at scoring goals however very early judging of that fellow modeste based off 1st half on football first is he hasn't the vaguest clue what a goal is or where to score one

Modeste got himself into good positions but his shooting was s****, did he get any on target tonight?

not that I can remember watching thus far, in fact I'm struggling to think of a shot even close to being on target

One good shot late in the game afetr Colo slipped, but went straight to Krul.

  13. Simpson needs to concentrate on keeping inline with the rest of the back 4 as he played them onside 3 times tonight by being a good yard behind everyone else.

Simpson was balls. I know it's become a cliché to slate him for backing off, but he literally does nothing to stop attackers getting by him. There's virtually no point in him being there.

He was at least three times much lower than other line playing Blackburns players onside. Worst was when Formica hit the sidenet. He was 3 yards below everyone and kept like 4 (?) Blackburn players onside. If you take away the goalline clearances, he's just shocking. And I didn't even say a thing about his ablity with the ball.

  14. From Wiki:

After playing in youth teams, Drogba made his professional debut aged 18 for Ligue 2 club Le Mans. A late bloomer, he signed his first professional contract aged 21; it was not until the 2002–03 season that he realized his potential, scoring 17 goals in 34 appearances in Ligue 1 for Guingamp. During the same season he made his first international appearance for Côte d'Ivoire, in September, and scored his first international goal the following February. He moved to Olympique de Marseille in 2003 for £3.3 million.

Can't help but think that if we had our scouting network set up like it is now, back then he would have joined us and we would maybe have a trophy that isn't 40+ years old.
